What do you do when you've got a horde of AoBR Ork Boys put together without heads or arms?

The green is VERY bright. Dipping these boyz should solve that. More to come.

Basecoated Boy

Dipped Boy

So... to unify the army. Should I just keep all the pants brown and make the shirt/wrist things a different color (the blue boyz, the red boyz, etc) or should I keep the red shirt and make the wrists the unit color....

So many options! Paint all da boyz!!

Note to self. The next time you want to paint an entire Ork Wagh in one go, remember that means you'll be painting an entire ork Wagh in ONE GO

Added 20 shoota boys and 3 killa kans with rocket launchas.

Squad markings

Not done with this one yet

Teeth need painting!

So red, orange, yellow, and black. You can see the base treatment on that last pic.

Wow.

What does Krylon call that color, it may work for another projec I have in the works.

What color did you spray the torsos? I can't tell if that's a light brown or a grey.

Looking forward to seeing your results as I've got most of my AOBR boys still to paint

It's called Satin Apple. It's more like Satin Neon Apple.

Another Valspar called "Urban Beige."

Edited to avoid double posting.

I've had dodgy results with valspar, how does it work for you?

So far so good. Covered pretty even but I made sure to do two thin coats. I lean towards wanting a one and done approach with priming but I took my time with this batch. Turned out pretty even!

One ork is now base coated and dipped so I'll see how they'll end up looking. Phone camera pics all turned out bad so I'll spare you those.

I'm glad you had good results. For some reason I'm getting a pretty consistent orange peel effect from valspar. I've tried getting closer to no avail. Grey Primer, Brown Satin, and Satin Gloss all the same effect on wood, porcelain, and plastic. Maybe I'm cursed.

I like red so I'd say keep the shirts all red and then do the wrist bands in unit colors.

Besides, maybe they'll run faster...

I really don't like the technique and the effect it gives, but I can appreciate how useful it must be for the sheer amount of miniatures you're doing at once. I think it's the colour of the trousers the Ork Boy has on that just doesn't look right to me for some reason. The dipping effect just doesn't seem great on that part of the model, perhaps a darker colour would make the overall model look better. I don't know, just my opinion. If anything though, I'm glad the army's getting painted because there's nothing worse than a whole army of grey plastic arrayed against you!

I do like a big project.

I would say though.
1, Drill you barrels It really makes a difference and doesnt take long.
2, Its a very bright scheme, if thats what you going for thats fine, but just seems like it need to be brought down a couple of shades.

Just because I don't care, Doesn't mean I don't understand!

@oppl it comes down to whether or not you feel proud of the army you've got. I'll be glad to get them all done for sure.

@crazymez yes, it is bright, but I think the overall effect won't be as bad. Again, we'll have to wait on the final product. I'll look into drilling the barrels out, but that's a lot of drilling.

Got the metal all painted last night, I'll post a pic when I get home. Bit by bit I'll get them done.

So far I'm up to :
1 war boss
10 nobz
46 boyz with slugga/choppas
3 big shootas
2 rocket launchas
4 boyz nobz with power klaws
4 lootas
4 burna boyz
2 Meks, one with custom mega blasta

And carpal tunnel.

The silver goes on...

Walmart ran out of sleeveless red shirts, so it's time to go the bed. 24 ork boyz down...

These boys are coming along nicely. I like the red shirts as a unifying theme throughout the army.

They're coming out well.
