Ummm...somewhere...

G'day everyone!
=LAST WARNING FOR SPOILERS=
So with the BL having so many books it's often you find yourself remembering one scene over all others in all the books you have read so I thought we should collect them all here! Hopefully it might give inspiration for people to read some books that they wouldn't have before
Personally my most memorable scene would have to be from the gaunts ghost novel 'Traiter General', when the two chaos lightning mechanical beings that don't die charge at the ghosts, and one of the ghosts (Rawne's right hand man, I cannot remember his name ) starts pumping auto canon shots into one of them like there's no tomorrow, and the other ghosts are running around in trucks, just such a great combat sequence! Also any scene that includes a ghost dying...it's just so sad
However the momen't when eisenhorn see's Bequin essentially dead, just takes the icing on the cake
So dakka, what's your favourite BL moment?

"How many more worlds do we sacrifice? How many more millions or billions do we betray before we turn and fight?" - attributed to Captain Leoten Semper of Battlefleet Gothic - Gothic War, the evacuation of Belatis.

Two scenes both out of 'Helsreach'.

1. When the ork gargant destroys the warlord itan and the ork "princeps" chastizes his crew for not keeping the head as a trophy.

2. When the BT MoF uses the Ordinatus Armageddon to blow a decently sized hole in the gargant.

Lame novel, but the scene in Prospero Burns where the skjald dude is telling the dieing librarian his story about malefacarum, and then it transitions into the snow is quite awesome. Well written, haunting, with some foreshadowing, and a good creepy twist at the end.

My own little happy place

In Eisenhorn when he releases Cherubael and the daemonhost blows up the Chaos warlord titan, and he has to use his acolyte to bind Cherubael, untop of that Bequin gets put into her coma. So sad yet that was pretty awesome.
Another one would be when in Ravenor they go through that portal door and get teleported to a world being sieged by Hive Fleet Behemoth, Nothing quite motivates someone to get a door working again like a tidal wave of Hormagaunts.

I tried being normal but it's boring so now I'm back to being insane

I don't remember what Gaunt book it was, but it was when he shoots a few natives with his bolt pistol after they assaulted his chief medic and physician.

How it's described just sticks in my head.
Will look up the book and edit this.
I've found it!

Gaunts Ghost The Saint Omnibus, page 615

"A bolt-round went off very loud in the close air.
The brawling figures broke away from Curth and Dorden at the sound.
Ibram Gaunt walked across the much, white smoke escaping through the vents of his bolt pistol's flash retarder.
He was splashed from head to toe in mud and blood, and powder burns marked his cheeks.
"I am Imperial Commissar Gaunt" he said. "I am known to be a fair man, until I am pushed. You've just pushed me"
Gaunt lowered his weapn and shot two of the Aexegarians dead where they stood. The rest flead. For good measure, Gaunt sighted and shot down one of the escapees too.

Soulhunter: When Talos goes down into the bowels of the prison to liberate the female psyker.
Had an ultra grimdark feel to it I thought; the implied rape (a subject amongst others that 40k never goes near - not that it should have to mind), the Batman-esque undertones, the absolute terror conveyed through the prisoners as this unstoppable hunter came for them, the setting - some horrific prison of nightmares.
And then the lingering question did Talos save her simply because he needed her as an astropath or was there some tiny sliver of humanity left in him that he would kill the would be rapists and make them suffer.

Cant recall the short story name (it was in one of the HH compilation books) but the scene where the infiltrator turns the town against itself and the young man is left atop the conveyer complex watching his town fall to pieces knowing he is helpless to save it. Nasty stuff but done so well.

Yeah, I'm gonna change my vote for this!

I felt so bad for Marquall. He is could be a perfect tragic hero from one of Shakespeare's plays. He was starving for glory and fame, and yet he just faced disappointment after disappointment and ended with an anonymous and meaningless death just after downing Chaos' best pilot and finally becoming an ace.
