Hello fellow dakka-ites.I went down to my local store and got myseld some new footsloggers (with a 2d6 movement... ) but as i was building them up(got 3 put together),i thought: Ok nice models, nice idea, nice bolt ammunition but....how do i use them? My question is the -banner- Do i need to make my whole army with an undivided banner then have a Tzeentch one for the troop or can i just field them as long as they have their respective Chapter symbol on the pad? And how the hell do banners work anyway?Sorry if its a dumb question but my codex is in french adn i have trouble understaning the way it is put in it. Thanks for the help already and at least for looking

Banner? We're confused. If you mean the back banner that comes in the box, it's just a decoration. Put it on or don't. If you mean a wargear banner, that's something different (and not desirable).

I don't mean to be rude, but if French is not your first language, why would you get a French Codex?

I happen to live in switzerland so the only way i could get one is by ordering it.Seeing as it was the second thing i got for my troops (first was a squad),i didnt think of it as important.By that time,i was still a complete n00b on the rules and got the codex just for looks and pretty pictures. Chaos troops require a banner/mark (undivided, nurgle etc) so im trying to find out -do- i need to have a mark on my squds to field them or can i just use my 1k sons like that?

Chaos marines are not required to have a Mark. You can field them just as Chaos Marines. If you give them a Mark, they function as marines of a particular god. If you give regular Chaos Marines the Mark of Tzeentch, they become Thousand Sons. There is no other way to make Thousand Sons. You can field your models as blue Chaos Marines with nice headdresses if you want, but they will not have Thousand Sons rules. The only way to use those rules is to give regular Chaos Marines the Mark of Tzeentch.

If they are true 1k sons, they need to have a Mark in the squad. If you are just using the models as basic Chaos troops, then you don't, but they won't use the 1k Sons rules.

You can field them as funky looking models as they said, or you can field them as Thousand Sons. . .
If you field them as thousand sons they get 2 wounds, can't get any weapon upgrades (so nothing but bolters) and walk as if in difficult terrain. . . However the leaders and aspiring champions and alot of those types of units don't get those changes they instead auto pass psychic tests and have a whole bunch of great psychic powers (which you need for dealing with tanks since you only have basic weapons. . .
So far I don't consider thousand sons troops very playable after alot of talk from other players, and my own tests. . . However if you use their demons as troop choices and use their terminators as your work horse, they could be flat nasty. . . 2 wound terminators!!!, oh and of course the terminators could be used as the group to drop the demons. . .

By 1K Sons help, I'm relatively sure he meant from people who played them, or at least own Codex CSM. Unfortunately Citadel, do not fit into either category. Please refrain from posting help in areas you know nothing about.
