Okay so why has Wayland Games put up pics and advanced orders of Necrons on the internet, in the UK when all other retailers are not allowed to do so until the 29th of October? Has GW lost it's teeth to enforce contracts and release dates? Or is it that they won't reign Wayland in due to the vast amount of business they do? It's an absolute mess of a launch, someone should be hauled over the coals for this one.

I'm going to move this over to the discussions board as it's more of a discussion point than news as such.

My guess is that they thought that once the cat was out of the bag then it was open season.

Clearly someone has pointed out their error ergo the removed pictures.

As to why the models are still listed on the site, well I don't suppose GW has any authority to dictate what can and can not be listed by them on Waylands own website.

I'm sure it was/is nothing more than a misunderstanding.

I don't know but it's interesting. It also seems to imply that short of the characters everything will be plastic... that is bad - for my bank balance!

I's not. There was a discussion on Warseer with them. Basically, they saw that the leak included prices, so they guessed what was finecast or plastic and put the pre orders up at the prices listed in the leaks. Most like, it gets them additional pre orders that would otherwise go through GW.

Question remains though, if they listed something higher than it should be and someone pre orders it, if they will refund them the difference.

They refund P&P where the costs are less so i don't see why not.

The way I see it, it is a major kick the face for all the other Retailers (internet or otherwise) as they could be losing out on potential sales (this includes GW Retail arm). I can pre-order with these guys and they can send it so it's on my Doorstep the day of release, no other company has done this.

It calls into question all launches for all product lines. Can Wayland be trusted? It has just put two fingers up at GW the biggest Games Maker out there so what the hell are smaller operations going to do? This fractures the independent retailer and supplier relationship. It also shows GW has no teeth, it will go after heavy discounters and Independant retailers that ship to Australia, but if a company leaks it's products and product releases it stands there all forlorn. A temporary cease and desist would have covered this surely?

On a side issue, does anyone find the Dakka Search function a bit clumsy. I struggled to find another post on this, but have been subsequently signposted to other threads by conscientious Dakkanauts... Sorry to the MOD's having to shift this, but my point on the crazy release practices going on remains a valid one.

Haven`t seen the pics, but the Wayland preorder is online for quite a while now, shortly after the BoW pics appeared. They are based partly on rumours (Cryptek is missing, material often missing and combi kits shown separately), but somehow they seem to have access to the official website texts on the units.

Dakka search is terrible. I use google site search instead (site:www.dakkadakka.com "query")

Good call, that would be an interesting premise. I wonder how many Wayland Customers would cancel orders and shift to another supplier. Oh and I feel for you, living in the Southern Hemisphere, GW least preferred Hemisphere.

Well there have been a lot of rumors about Wayland Games using BoW as a front to open up preorders. Essentially Wayland games got info from GW about Necrons and how much they would cost. When they got a hold of next months White Dwarf that showed pictures of Necrons, they sent it to BoW so they could do a big reveal. Because Wayland Games knew when the reveal would be, they were able to take preorders before some people knew about the Necrons release.

Now there are a lot of "what if's" in this conspiracy story, like what if BoW got a hold of the WD and Wayland Games had nothing to do with it, or if Wayland Games didn't even know about the leak.

This Wouldn't be a problem if GW hadn't changed to it's stupid new policy about new releases.

I'd be curious to see the numbers at this though. I wonder if Wayland is going to seal away quite a few of GW's customers from this.

Sorry to throw this in here, but it is about Wayland Games. Has anyone heard about the status on "rest of the world"? Can they now ship to the US, Australia, ect?

They are still setting up the new warehouse with dedicated RoW space and setup.

Due to the necessity to make it all legal and above board, it's taking longer than they anticipated (there are paperwork issues).

Yes it would have. Even if they released preview images, it's highly doubtful pricing would be announced prior to release. So a leak in pricing would still have places like Wayland jmping the gun with possible incorrect information (which some of it was, pointed out by some people over at warseer).

As for their 'rest of the world' items, I'm done waiting. I'm just using Dicebucket for any overseas orders.
