A librarian is attacking with a force weapon. It is going into a unit of 2 nobz with a Gharzghkull Thraka. Can the wound from the librarian be put on him so the instant death rule is nullified? Basically renders the psykers instant death ability useless.

My understanding is that wounds are allocated regardless of their 'special abilities'. You resolve the affects after you assign the wounds, so where Thraka would take a would he would not be affected by the instant death (assuming he has eternal warrior or something similar).

Should be noted that some models 'cannot be affected by instant death by strength' but would be effected by force weapons as normal.

The wounds may be spread out as listed under the wound allocation rules.

Since you do not test for ID until after saves are made, this means if you allocate any force weapon attacks to him specifically the wounds from the Force weapon are allocated to Gaz then you have no reason to test for the force weapons ID power, since, i am assuming by the context, gaz has eternal warrior.

I thought IC were allocated separately... so in the OP we are to assume 2 nobz in base to base with Libby, but Ghaz behind them, but not base to base?

Yes IC's are attacked as if they were a separate unit in CC, so if you attacked the squad then he can not allocate any wounds to Gaz, if you only attacked gaz, all wounds would go to him.

Yes, allocating a wound that causes Instant Death to Ghaz will cause the Instant Death part to be ignored (as Ghaz has Eternal Warrior due to his Adamantium Skull)

BUT

The close combat rules, and the way ICs interact with those, prevents the scenario described by the OP from ever happening.
ICs in close combat counts as a separate unit, thus attacks (and wounds) directed at the Nobs cannot be "put on" Ghaz.

If the librarian is not in base to base with Ghaz then you cannot attack ghaz, and the ork player CANNOT allocate any wounds to him.

If you are only in base with Ghaz, then you can only allocate attacks to Ghaz, meaning the FW will be useless from the ID side of things

This is mostly correct.

Ghazzy is not going to be affected by any attacks directed at the unit; whether he is Base-to-base with the Libby or not(in the Case that the Libby is in base-to-base with both the unit and Ghazzy).

IC's are a separate unit for the CC attacks themselves, everything from determining "Who can fight", through the Last resolution of the last save(armor or Invulnerable).

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
