Hey I'm buying Black Reach and I need help with adding on some orks. I would like to use the orks in the set and bring it up to at least a 1000 point list. Any suggestions?

First of I would suggest more boyz. After that depending on what kind of army you want to run ( horde, truck rush, kan wall, etc.) I would say some lottas and killer kans. Hope that helps.

Another set of Black reach? You need more boyz. Or you can get the battleforce to get some shootas.
At 1000 pts it is hard to get enough trukks or battlewagons to get your boys across board.
So you are looking foot slogging.
So either go for some kans and then some boyz. Kans do not work so well with trukks and speed so this may push you down a different future direction.
Or mostly boyz. You can buy loadz of trukks and battlewagons to increase the army: make sure you have plenty of both before you use the transports in a competitive game.
Or take kannons and boyz. This leads neatly to a green tide with a huge shooting element.
That is my take of the options and more importantly the end of point.

Deffkoptas are cool, I got some extras off eBay for cheap or you can try to trade out the marine in the set for orks with someone else.

I agree. More Boyz = More bloodshed. My entire Ork army is 2 black reach, and one battalion.... I run 2 troops (almost 30 orks each). No, you can't fit them in a trukk, but they'll live to reach the fight, even after taking a couple turns of hits. Put some killa kans or something to distract the opponent, and literaly beat them to a pulp. Troops are everything, ESPECIALLY when it comes to Orks.

If you want to play trukks, buy trukks. If you want a competitive army, you'll need a serious re-think.
Trukk mobs will start taking leadership tests after two casualties. They'll start failing them more often than not after only six casualties. This is a recipe for failure. You'll likely lose the two after the trukk explodes.
Ork mobs win combat by weight of numbers. Orks accomplish everything by weight of numbers. Twelve Orks is nothing to sneeze at, but they aren't durable enough to rely on.
A Big Mek - or two - with a Kustom force field will significantly improve a trukks chance of getting where it's going, but the odds still aren't good. Battle wagons are the better choice for a Speed Freak list.
Deffkoptas have serious issues as well. Their leadership is - like all Orks' - pitiful and there's no way to help it. They lack the even the bikers durability. Add rokkits and a buzz saw and you've got a model that has a purpose but units of Deffkoptas aren't competitive.
First purchases should include more boys, even if you intend to play trukks. A Big Mek with KFF - or two - is a solid choice. Battle wagons are better than trukks. Deffkoptas should be used only individually and only with rokkits and buzz saws. Bikers are crap, Storm boyz are crap. Nobs work as units in some Ork lists. Meganobs can be used, but the models are a real pain and only the two combi-weapon versions are available. Tank busters are a level below crap. Burnas are useable in Wagon rush lists but not so much in anything else. Lootas rock and can be used in just about any list. Lootas do need to used in the right way; either cheap (5 models) or fearless and likely to stay that way for a while (15 models). Flash Gitz are are-you-kidding-me awful. Loota vehicles are pitiful. That should about cover it.
The most competitive Ork list is probably the Kan Wall, but that's a very different army than a Wagon rush or Speed Freak deal. Kans don't really work well with the speed lists. So decide what you want to do before you buy much more.
If your gaming group is not highly competitive, you can probably get by with just about anything. If, on the other hand, you aspire to any real level of competitiveness, you'll need to stay away from the non-competitive units, of which the Ork codex has way more than its share.

Real constructive advice guys... He says he wants to make a trukk rush list, and you all tell him "Trukks suck, play kanwall"? Really?
Back to the OP. You currently have a warboss, 5 barebonez nobs, 20 slugga boyz (2 w/big shootas) and 3 rokkit koptas. The nobz need to be tooled up for them to dish out some pain, so get yourself a nobz box so that they have gear. It's a great kit, and provides lots of cool bitz.
Now, go on ebay and buy as many black reach boyz as you can. You can probably get 20 of them for like 15 bucks. Trukk boyz should be slugga anyway, so this works out.
For trukks to survive, you need lots of them. So get plenty of those. You will also need some kff support, so you can either buy the model, or convert one. (easy enough, just get a boy and stick a couple springs and wires on his back)
By this time, you probably have around 40-60 slugga boyz, 10 nobz equipted in various ways, a warboss, 3 rokkit koptas, and a bunch of trukks. Using those componants, you could build a list something like this.
HQ
Warboss w/pk, cybork & bosspole.
kff mek
Troops
11 boyz w/ pk nob & bp in trukk. (mek in here)
12 boyz w/ pk nob & bp in trukk
12 boyz w/ pk nob & bp in trukk
12 boyz w/ pk nob & bp in trukk
4 nobz, 1 painboy, 1 w/ pk, 1 w/ big choppa, 1 bare, all cybork in trukk. (Warboss in here)
Fast attack
1 buzzkopta w/ rokkits.
That should come out at around 1000 points. It has 5 trukks, which is good for a low-points list. The kopta can bust out some obvious threats (longfangs, preds, transports with nasty things in them) with its scout move if you go first, or you can reserve it later.The nobz & boss can tackle harder stuff, and the boyz can krump 'eads.
So, basicly, buy a nobz box, 20-30 more boyz, a kff mek, and 5 trukks. For the pk nobz in each squad, you can use the spare klaws and such in the nobz box on you black reach nobz so they can be squad leaders.
So, assuming you get the extra boyz from ebay and buy the rest at retail value, it should cost a bit over $200. Hope i helped.
