I recently acquired a small Necron army from a friend with the following

Necron Lord with Rez. Orb.
28 Necron Warriors
3 Necron Destroyers
7 Scarab Swarms
5 Immortals


He had a 1000 point list for this stuff, and I would like to round out the force to be able to play them at the local hobby store. Their common point values for tournament are 1250-1750. What do I need to add in order to get to the point value and be competitive? I fully realize that the new models and codex come out November 5th, and I will wait to order anything until then so I can incorporate the new stuff into the force. Taking the new stuff and existing stuff into account, what would be the most cost effective suggestions you could give me to get to my point requirement with a couple options and be able to compete? I am thinking a couple of the new barges, but outside of that I'm unsure. Let me know what you think.

Well...you'll have to wait for the fifth to get a real answer really. No one really knows the pts cost yet.

Supposedly though Warriors are 12pts and immortals are 17pts.

Meaning that you have 336pts of warriors and 85pts of immortals, giving you an approximate value of 421pts.

...Well, to start off with you'll want a monolith. That's like the signature necron vehicle. You will be hard pressed to find cron player who doesn't have one. that should add another 200pts.

the remaining 400pts or so I think will be filled up by the Lord, Destroyers and scarabs.

Necrons get update in November, i strongly recommend waiting a few days.

I am waiting until the 5th to order anything, like I have said. I am unsure about the monolith, if the rumors are true it is getting a pretty heavy nerf that makes the new vehicles seem much better.

I do really want a C'tan. Which one traditionally has been better?

Actually the monolith getting nerfed is a bit of an overaction. Whilst it is true that it no longer has immunity against melta, it is still a AV14 all around vehicle that can now insta kill any enemy model that is 6" away from it's door. It still holds a formidable arsenal and it can still allow units to teleport. Did I mention that it's a lot cheaper than before?

Well, anyway, if you don't want a monolith I suppose you could try the doomsday ark.

And there is only one type of C'tan now...yeah those are the heavily nerfed ones I think.

There is no longer a deciever or nightbringer, now there's just a nameless C'tan that could have 2 special abilities at a high price.

Like everyone else has said, waiting until the 5th is probably the best (and most difficult) thing to do right now.

Based on what I've read from rumors and general knowledge of the game, if you need to get anything between now and then, pick up some wraiths or warriors. Immortals are coming in plastic, so wait on those. If you can find any old metal flayed ones, pick up those too...the new ones aren't very good looking.

Other than that, just wait a couple weeks and then go crazy.
