Well, I just bought another 60 Boyz to fill out my Boy count to 180... then I stared at all them. About 75% aren't even painted. So I had a look at a couple of websites for tips on how to paint a green tide reasonably fast. So I came a across a chap who told me how to paint orks really really quickly, and they look great on the table.. well I'd give em' about a 7 out of 10 which isn't bad for a fast paint job. So I'll list the steps he gave me and I'll let dakka decide what they think of the idea

1. Get your little grey model, spray the first undercoat dark green (sort of like Dark Angles Green)-(this green can be purchest from any good hardware store)

2. Pick out some of the detail, like the Orks leather shirt, shoes, teeth, and eyes.

3. Then dip the hole model in Flooring Grey dipping primer, or just ordinary dipping primer.

4. Base model

Model complete

-Unfortunately, I have no pics, my camera is under repair from a good air drop that happened a view days ago.

I shudder at the thought of trying to paint 250 Orks ;_;

You may want to paint to a higher quality than what I've done. I tried to go BARELY beyond OK for tabletop play. I didn't do anything fancy for my themed orks. I consider myself a pretty busy guy and it took me a year to do about 135 models (last two trukks are still in the box) for a respectable 'Ard Boyz list. If I was doing orks SUPER Fast I think I could bang out well over 200 minis in a week though. Here's how I would do it:

1. Generate list (duh). And group by type, 150 Shootas let's say.
2. Assemble 100%
3. Spray a LIGHT Green primer.
4. Paint armor, T-shirts etc in color of choice.
5. Paint weapons black and drybrush silver OR paint silver only.
6. Dip in dip of choice. I use Minwax PolyShade (Royal Satin Walnut) it's a Burnt Sienna Hue and gives a dirty appearance.

My army is 100% dipped. They ARE shiney. I am going to expermiment with a Testor's dull coat, but I kinda like the shine now. Anyhoo I painted 6 Kans in a weekend. 12 nobz in a day. 700 points of Marines in 8 hours. A Razorback in 8 hours. etc. My next army maybe a more classic approach (Tau?) but with a horde... to heck with that!!!!

Below I've shown some dipping examples. Hope that helps. SICK OF GREEN!!!!!!

I should add that I dry brushed the ork skin. Starting with Hookers Green. The lightened with Titanium White for DB. THEN DIPPED.

If you are blasting through. Start in a light green and dip only.

Yeah those are some quick ways i got mine orks down to 7 models in 30min, not including drying time. I was pumping them out and then lost modivation.
Primed in black
Skin goblin green Heavy coat to seep in all crevises
Clothes what ever scheme you want, i painted badmoon, deff skullz, and evil suns
Metals
Details- like teef, finger nails, eyes, tatoos, and etc.
Brushed on wood varnish, i used a dark red, like mahogony, wipped away excess.
Let the varnish dry and sprayed it with krylon flat varnish to remove the gloss.

It all depends on the details that you want to put into the model and for horde armies i would only focus on favorite models.... Nobz, HQs, and what have you.

Just dont lose focus its super easy, im still in my rut and refuse to paint anymore... for now.
