Aside from him not being a very good player (not many devs are top-level players though hehe), it seems like it'll be fun.

Indeed, for me as well.

You advance from arena 1 to arena 4 in Left 4 Dead style IIRC.

It doesn't seem like "alternate co-op campaign" in any way whatsoever to me...

Try wasting time instead, it's much more fun than waisting time

It's probably more like "Orks are charging these objectives, so kill them all".

Also, Xbox Battle Brothers, I call our Tact Marine slot
Exterminatus uses the same general mechanics as multiplayer.

I say this because it uses the exact same experience system and even the same classes as multiplayer. And the same perks.

So it's basically multiplayer as co-op instead of competitive.

You've still got a while before it's available. They said 24 Hours left about 3 hours ago.
Ah, source for this?

We made it entirely to the very very last wave-- even only had five...

chaos champions on the secret 21st wave

... but then we al died and couldn't kill those last enemies :\

Long as in...

Spoiler:
... by the time we got to the last five champions we were joking taht we'd killed enough chaos marines to win the Horus Heresy and prevent Horus from killing the Emperor. We killed more chaos marines than you'll see outside of a stupidly sized apocalypse army-- hundreds probably, and that's not counting the waves and waves of bloodletters. AT one point we faced off against no less than eight Chaos Marines with heavy bolters all spawning at once, half on each side of the map. Then there were the tons and tons of maul wielding chaos champions that chased us around...

We managed it. Our group at the time was one dev with plasma cannon, two assaults with hammers, and one assault with axe.

But half the team was dead with no extra lives by the time we had only five

left to kill.

There's many kinds of shooty orks.

Shootaboyz, rokkit boyz ('ard boyz with rokkit launchas), shoota nobs (nobs with very big and nasty shootas), and big shoota nobs (heavily armored nobs with multi-rokkit launchas like the kommando nob from DoW2).

Then five choppy orks... sluggaboyz, scarboyz (armor and chainchoppas), 'ardboyz (with shield), nobz, and big nobz (with heavy armor and a better big choppa).

At least to my memory.

BOOYAH! My group just beat the first of the two maps.

Take that you overly long bonus round!

No, but it does knock them off balance rather quickly. It'll take several hits. Armored nobs take the most hits, followed by champions, then chaos marines and the other nobs.

Anything goes in the early stages, so long as the players are good. I recommend at least one devastator that's either HB or plasma cannon, at least one assault with a thunder hammer, and the other two are assaults and tacs. But we've gotten away with all assaults as long as the players knew when to retreat and stop swinging.

Tacticals can be useful, certainly. A meltagun/vengeance launcher for example can really keep the Orks off of a devastator, the melta devastating the armor of any 'ard boyz that you come across. In the last stage, we had three thunder hammers and me as the awesome mcawesomeface plasma cannon devastator with iron halo and artificer armor, so I rarely died (mostly to my own plasma cannon).

Most importantly though, the group needs to support eachother. Devastators provide fire support to assault marines-- such as my killing dozens of bloodletters with a single plasma cannon shot in the final stage... several times!-- and assault marines keep the big baddies off the devs.

If you have 2 or three assault marines, it's okay to split up as long as you pay attention to others' health and move to assist them when they start taking hits.

I haven't managed to find the best tactical marine loadout though. Meltagun is definitely in there, for how much damage it does to a sizable number of Orks when aimed right. Perhaps bolter with kraken rounds as the other one? Or stalker with burst fire?

If you have the game on PC, add ladycommissar on steam and hit me up. If you don't have the game on PC, well, sucks to be you?

The GAME retailer essentially blackmailed Relic into not selling Space Marine to players in the UK over Steam.

If you buy the game you still have to register it on Steam though, so you'll get to download it any time you want or install it directly off the dvd and merely download the patches.

Each chaos marine is as strong as an unarmored nob. Treat them like you would a nob, albeit one without the ability to charge.

Necros wrote:Another problem I had was the lack of ammo. I started doing tactical with a storm bolter and kraken bolter, but all my teammates hogged all the ammo so I just switched to assault and did a lot better that way.

That's the big benefit to having two or three assaults and limited tacs and devs.

Sckitzo wrote:I don't recommend Sword/Axe Assault, it worked well for me in the first arena, but it just didn't do enough damage.

And Melissa I'll send an invite here in a few. KingCracker are you on steam?
It works well for me in any arena. Power Sword + zeal + extra stun power seems like an unlikely candidate, but it works wonders against hordes of enemies, including strong ones. 3xattack then stun, stuns everyone even remotely near you. The first, quicker stomp, not the second one. Then swing some more, stomp again, swing some more, stomp again. barring craptons of rokkits or plasma, you'll gain health more than fast enough to coutner most situations. Also leaves lots of stunned enemies for your ally's grenades, hammers, or plascannons.

The dev stun doesn't actually stun for very long like the 3xattack+stun with the swords.

You know the stuns in single player that let you do execution moves? that's the kind of stuns this attack does, to a HUGE amount of enemies.

I dunno if it's only with the stun enhancement perk.

Or at least add new ways to unlock them through the game, like killing five (ten? twenty?) chaos champions with a thunder hammer gives you killing blow.
