My question is about successor chapters formed AFTER the Second Founding.
Are members of the parent Chapter transplanted into the Successor, or does the Successor simply use the parent's Geneseed?
How is the Chapter Master of a Successor selected, is he a Captain from the parent Chapter or a new Marine?

Some members of the parent chapter- often veterans- are always transplanted into the successor. It wouldn't make sense to have an entire chapter of neophytes, would it?
Similarly, it wouldn't make sense to have an inexperienced, new marine be the chapter master.

The successor chapter will also fight along side the parent chapter or another successor to gain experience while building their numbers.
