Funny thing is I had no intention of watching it but as soon as my dad and brother flicked the show on I was hooked. Must have been my mom's Kiwi genes kicking in.
They have always been the All Blacks and have a great tradtion
Age is rarely a good reason for a thing. If they had always been called the [Not Allowed] Hangers would that still seem acceptable just becuase it was ok to name something that in 1905? A legitimate reason for it would be that it doesn't have anything to do with ethnicity.

And no one has said otherwise. Good for them.

So pointing out that using how old something is is not a very good argument but giving an actual decent defense of the title is considered trolling? I don't think you know what trolling is. I would explain why I don't think you know what trolling is, but that would possibly be trolling ,and would almost certainly violate Rule No. 1, no matter how true it is.

No You are trying to derail the thread by sidetracking it into a argument about racism. Because causing arguments is what you do end of off topic BS, thank you

I'm guessing you didn't even read what I wrote at this point. If you had, you would understand that I was doing the opposite of what you are claiming. This is not surprising considering the reason I can not express.

Racism trolling aside, thanks everyone for contributing! I love the All Blacks, and they deserved to win last night, I am really proud to be a Kiwi at the monent!

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

All I was saying was that the thread title was very misleading, and that the "All Blacks" is a terrible name for any professional team, no matter how you spin it.
Sorry if this is derailing, but that was my initial reaction.
Sorry to get a little of topic here, but to our American ameigos, I know here in Austrailia that calling someone "black" doesnt have the same connotations as it would have in your country. The Aboriginies will often refer to themselves as "black fellas" and to us white guys as "white fellas" and we can and do call them black fellas. There is nothing mean spirited behind saying it and it is not seen as a bad thing to say. Its unlikey that the Aboriginies would ever get called "Aboriginal Australian" outside of something offical in parliment... I'd be fairly certain that the situation is similar in New Zealand too. I mean sure dropping then N word around still isnt cool but you know... why would it be. Anyway my point was The All Blacks name is part of the team pride and i doubt they would change it just because it might offend some people in a different country.
Black is the term used by British citizens of Afro-Caribbean descent.
If it's good enough for them then it is good enough for me.
Have yet to see any complaint of the use of the term All-Blacks which continues to be used world wide by the sporting and general media, who also don't seem to object.
But as we seem to have upset a handful of white middle class kids in the USA we had better think of something else.
Likewise the neighbouring urban conurbation west of my native Birmingham will no longer be called the Black Country, and the good people of Blackpool, Blackburn and Nigeria will just have to lump the name change to their respective abodes.

Now that is trolling.
As I understood it the name is because their uniforms are all black, or becuase of a typo way way back in the day when a journalist typed "they all play like they are all backs (the position)" but in the printing it said "they all play like they are blacks" and the joke sort of stuck. There is nothing to indicate a bunch of white guys thought it would be fun to name the national team after people of African descent.

Is it? I wouldn't know not being interested in such activities. But given that only a couple of Americans are the only people to object, it seems fair comment.
Dude, look at their kit! But hey what has tradition got to do with it.
My "soccer" team is knicknamed The Blues.
Suppose as we have derisively named ourselves after an Afro American art form just to be obnoxious and totally racist. We should all change our scarves and "uniforms".
Bugger, better throw out my Chaos Black paint as well as my Lamp Black oils, mustn't offend.
If you don't like our nomenculture just lump it with the coal pal, so we can celebrate how awesome the All-Blacks are, as one of your compatriots so aptly put it.
Cut the snark, gentlemen. If you find yourself resorting to personal attacks, it means you have nothing of any use to anyone to say -- and it's also against our rules.

Spoiler:
anyway, Go All Blacks!
You were off by 22 years.
Also, WOOOOO RUGBY.
There are some who walk until their legs fail them and they fall to the ground. I find that respectable.
Then there are those who drag themselves further. I find that admirable.

It's unfair to you because:
A. You don't follow rugby (neither would I willingly, but my buddy plays on a college team and forces ME to at least pay attention enough to pretend I'm not ignoring him)
B. All Blacks is somewhat less descriptive than White Sox, Red Socks, or Metropolitans, but also no more offensive than any of them. It's cultural. If I try hard enough I can get you a picture of an American basketball team wearing swastikas.
