I have played a game at the FLGS an liked how Menoth plays, so I plan on buying the battlegroup and a heavy warjack kit (will assemble as Templar) to start with. I hear the Avatar of Menoth is great, but I have a question about it. Since the Avatar is not part of a battlegroup, will having the Avatar allow me to continue on if my warcaster is killed?

Thanks. Any suggestions on where to go would be great.

When your warcaster dies you lose. If you have multiple warcasters then when one dies it will not affect the avatar in any way. First thing you should probably pick up for menoth would be a choir. And maybe some troops, but definitely a choir.

I feel sorry for Santa Clause, All these mom and pop operations are running him out of business.

Definitely look into the 2 Player Box. Even if you don't want the Khador, it's still worth it even if all you do with the extra models are throw them away (please don't). Just from a Menoth models perspective you get the following:

pKreoss ($12)
Repenter Light Warjack ($19)
Vanquisher Heavy Warjack ($35)
Crusader Heavy Warjack
($35)
Max unit of Exemplar Cinerators ($45)

21pts

You can see by those retail prices of the individual bits, just the Menoth models alone are valued over $145. The Khador side is very similar in retail value, so you can often find Khador players willing to split the box with you or you can simply sell them at a discount and even further lower the cost of the box. The box also includes a compact rulebook, dice, ruler, etc. Well worth its $100 price tag.

I put Kreoss and jacks in italics because this is the new, alternative battle box set for Menoth. It is much better than the original stand-alone box set. pKreoss doesn't really need the arc node he had with the original and the Vanquisher is just plain mean. Further, to move to a solid 25pt army is as easy as adding a Minimum Choir unit and the Covenant of Menoth (aka The Book). Those two units are staples in nearly every Menoth list and make your beefy warjacks even meaner.

The other very nice thing about the new battlebox is having both of those heavy chassis kits in it. You can magnetize the kits so all it takes to try a different warjack is swapping out its arms and head. Let's say in the future you want to pick up the warjack upgrade kit for Blood of Martyrs or Scourge of Heresy. Rather than buying yet another heavy chassis, you can simply swap the arms and head out via magnets and there you go, $14 Blood of Martyrs instead of $49 BoM.

Ah crap, I may have nearly convinced myself to try out Menoth doing exactly this...

Haven't played much since Mk1 so im not sure about all menoths new toys but i would imagine this rule will always stay true.

Kreoss > Knights Exemplar > Seneschal > More Knights Exemplar.

Seriously it works from a fluff point of veiw (Kreoss being a master exemplar) and is pure rage on the table, the more damaged the exemplar unit gets the nasteir it gets and the seneshcal is legendarily difficult to keep dead.

If you like menoth, get the 2-player battle box. Hang onto the Khador models for a while before you decide to sell them, if you do. The set is superb, The mini rulebook is essentially MKII without any storyline, just the game rules section, but it's all color, and the set comes with a few dice and quick start rules too. A small flexible ruler is included, as is an intro guide with templates and basic painting guide info... You might want the MKII book, or Menoth book, or... down the road who knows.
All in all I'm totally impressed with the kit, I have Cygnar, and my Wife has Khador, we just got the set a week ago. The full rules, Menoth Battlegroup (adjusted from reg. battlebox), and the infantry unit are well worth the $100.
I'm looking into adding the Covenant(the book) and something else, maybe a merc. solo.... presto... 25pts...

Hope you have fun, you'll most likely be hooked and other minis will get some storage time for a while, mine have...
GOOD LUCK!!
