Hey, since the codex isn't out yet I didn't want to post this in Tactics, YMDC, or News & Rumors, but a disagreement came up between myself and a Dark Eldar player yesterday. Now, this person is notorious for list-tailoring, and mis-remembering rules in such a manner that it favors his army (yet he never seems to forget rules that put his opponent at a disadvantage...hrmmm). As such, I believe that he is grasping at straws regarding interpretation of this (not yet released) particular special ability.

Entropic Strike - the rumored necron special ability that will, on a 4+ at the end of the phase, reduce armor of enemy vehicles hit by 1. He seems to think that the Flickerfield (a vehicle inv. save) will be allowed to attempt to nullify entropic strikes. I say no, because it is an ability resolved from hits (like markerlights) and the flickerfield is only used vs glancing and penetrating damage rolls.

I am aware that arguing rules that have not yet been released isn't optimal. I'm simply asking that IF the rule works as worded in the rumors thread, which interpretation WOULD be correct? The given caveat here is that in 2 weeks this discussion could radically change, and I'm okay with that.

Thanks.

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.

on the forum. Obviously

Does the flickfield resolve itself against hits, or penetration?

If against hits, yes, you can get a save.

If against penetration, no.

It is pretty self explanatory I think...And you might want to find another opponent.

From the codex " a vehicle with a flickerfield has a 5+ invulnerable save".

So save I take as meaning when it has suffered a hit and is to nullify a glance or penetrated result, not hit against the vehicle. Much like saves are only taken if a model is wounded, not hit.

I'm with both of you on the interpretation, and I feel like the majority of players will be also. This guy just hates to lose, regardless of what he's doing, and is prettymuch textbook WAAC TFG.

So why do i play him? I love the game. He's a regular opponent who i can almost always count on to play. Our gaming group has been weak in this area for awhile (most people say they *quit* playing because of this particular person) and i'll take games when and where i can get them in.

Thanks for taking the time to add your input.
