Trying to collect info on the Black Library, for the 'Quin fandex I'm working on. Could only find the small blurb in the Eldar codex and on the Lexicanum.

Is there more info out there?

Not much. If you're a big fan of the Harlequins, have you looked into their original "codex"? It might have some good stuff for you.

And, PS, when you get done, let me know! I love Harlequins.

What you might want to do is have a look in the book "Atlas Infernal"

Is it as bad as I fear it might be?

I have read it, and I think it is quite an exciting read. The Harlequins are not after him for the entire book, so there's that. The Atlas Infernal is a guide to the entire Webway, and I don't think even the Harlequins have that much knowledge.

Isnt it just called 'the black library' rather than the black library of chaos?

I think so, yeah. When I saw the title I thought Tzeentch had gotten one of his own.

Arguing with some people is like playing chess with a pigeon. You can play the best chess in the world, but at the end of the day the pigeon will still knock all the pieces off the board and then gak all over it.

I've always heard of it referred to as the Black Library of Chaos, which I took to mean the Black Library [pertaining to] Chaos rather than the Black Library [which belongs to] Chaos.

I thought only the harlequin were supposed to have that kind of knowledge. At least that's what it says in my codex.

No wai.

As someone else stated on this board, Czevak is one of those characters who comes off as far too smart and far too lucky.

The Emperor had sent in some expeditionary forces during his tinkering with the Golden Throne/Webway Gate, and they got trapped there when Magnus wrecked the joint. They proceeded to map the place.

One of the Inquisition War books (second one, I think) has more stuff on the Black Library, but I can't really recommend reading those horrible horrible books for those few morsels of information.

You're just prejudiced against BL books, even though you haven't read a single one (although I admit, that Czevak blurb is pretty bad)

I fear though, that the Czevak book is your best bet. I don't think the Harlequin army list will be of much help as it contained but a few scraps of fluff, all of which could be found in other sources.

Just give it a try. Reading a BL book is like watching an action movie; there are good-bad ones and bad-bad ones, you won't feel intellectually challenged but will have fun (if it's the good-bad kind).
Oh, and lots of explosions.

This is basically what you will garner from the BL novels regarding the Black Library:

Spoiler:
It is a repository of information about Chaos that comes from a variety of sources, including human texts written before/during the Age of Strife. Some examples of books found there are the Atlas Infernal, a map of the Webway inscribed on the skin of Sisters of Silence, so it seriously messes up/kills psykers who try to read it. There's also the Book of Fate that holds all the prophesies ever, that re-writes itselfto match shifting probabilities.

The Library is not located in any one place, but is rather constantly moving and shifting. In order to find it, you have to take a certain combination of turns and forks in the Webway from wherever it is you happen to be. It is visited mainly by Harlequins, and the occasional Illuminatus and Inquisitor. It is ruled by a council of sorts, who determine who gets to visit or who has to stay if they stumble upon it (during his visit Draco sees a guy locked in a glass box, and in Atlas Infernal Czevak gets similarly imprisoned). According to Inquisition War, all the Harlequins are seeking a place in the Webway where the past, present and future exist in the same place, with the goal ostensibly being preventing the Fall of the Eldar from happening in the first place.

Draco finds the place, but wastes the opportunity to do pretty much anything (like, oh, I don't know, prevent the Heresy?) by resurrecting his dead girlfriend, who doesn't recognize him, and he's so sad about it he kills himself and the book ends. Seriously, the damn book is stupid and awful and totally wastes the otherwise good storyline established by the first two (they are all written in a terrible Chaucer-wannabe style, but the first two keep things interesting enough that you can look past it). Seriously, feth Ian Watson with a sword-tipped industrial pile driver. Worst... author... ever. I will never pick up another of his books ever, I would rather read a history on purse dogs co-written by Paris Hilton and Lindsey Lohan.

Thanks, Omegus. Really helpful. It's fun some things, like past, rpesent and future existing simultaneously I'd come up with myself. Glad that I'm, somewhat, on the same level as GW.

TiB, I'm not completely negatively biased to BL books. I'd like to read path of the something, the eldar novel, one day. You just shouldn't give me a really big page-count book on some imperial guardsman, when I have things like Foucault, Marx and Lovecraft to read for school

Didn't whatshisface, the 1k sons special character, try to gain access to the black library?
