So I think think just about all of us agree that Vanguard Vets are pretty bad, to expensive for not enough juice (and they have BUY their jumppacks) but I was thinking: what if you put Dante in a squad of these guys and then Heroic Inter. with NO scatter and assault same turn? I think that would work wonderfully, being able to choose a free is beast and can be a real game changer.

Can't do it.
Vanguard cannot heroic intervention with an IC attached to the squad, for this very reason....

Even without Dante, DoA makes dropping 5 Vanuard with a few Storm Shields in to intercept a counterassault unit a solid choice.
By the way, a drop pod with a locator beacon is a nice boost for VV. Drop a few pods of dreads, then use the VV to hit whatever responds to the dreads.

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Blood angels have great use for vanguard vets. With only a 6 inch scatter you will more likely than not be in charge range of something. Just choose your target drop zone well aka in the middle of a circle of enemies where if you scatter you can charge in any direction.

A better use of Dante is dropping in an Honor Guard with Meltas to destroy that one vehicle that needs to die.

BA Vanguards are great, DoA is a great improvement for them. Usually people take a small size unit with some PW, TH or PF to kills things with Heroic intervention.
