I'm thinking of using 5 man termy squads with 2xCML for the first time. In other lists I've seen, there's a chainfist in there somewhere. Can someone tell me who it should go on and why?

Black Templars by the way

Thanks

Do it something like this...now you can play would shenanigans. It'll preserve your CF's right to the end if you need them to survive that badly.

Termy 1 - Power Sword, Storm Bolter

Termy 2- PF, Storm bolter

Termy 3- PF, Heavy Flamer

Termy 4- CF, Storm Bolter

Termy 5- CF, Missle Launcher Thingy, Storm Bolter

Illegal unit, you're not allowed Power Swords on BT Terminators. There's also not much point in having a Heavy Flamer and a CML in the same squad.

I go for a similar setup though:

PF/SB
PF/SB
CF/SB
CML/PF/SB
CML/CF/SB

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

Well right, I didn't have the dex in front of me, and its been a while since I played BT, but hopefully the OP got the point I was trying to illustrate.

Just put both of them on the missile launchers. As you will normally always choose which models you remove, then you last two models will have chainfists and cml so you squad is virtually fully functional.

Do you really want two chainfists? I guess it is cheap enough to give a bit of boost.
Do you want them at all? I guess if dreads come calling or a tank wants to say hello to the missile launchers.

OP did get the point. Thank you.

This is closer to what I was thinking. I was just trying to figure out who gets it and why. Wound allocation under this set up = 4 different kinds, which I like. Problem is, I only have points for one chainfist at this point in my list.

Good points. I didn't really feel like I needed a chainfist, as they already have tank hunters. If a dread gets that close to them, I already screwed up somewhere (they are to sit back and protect two small laz squads while putting down AT). I was just thinking of a cheap way to get some variance for wound allocation, but, having only five points (I stripped Marshal Severarse of his Bionic Arse for the five points), I figured a chainfist was the most useful.

Any other suggestions for where that five points should go? I could always have a Techmarine re-fit the Marshal's Bionic Arse.

They have 1 wound? So Wound allocation isn't as important.

Maybe not as important, but still important enough to do it.

I would still throw one in the squad but not on a CML guy. Sure, the PF's do fine against regular vehicles, but CF's give a nice bump.

There is a place beneath those ancient ruins in the moor…

Thanks for the help and commentary. I ended up with a heaping helping of 1's for saves in all of my games, so it didn't matter where the fist went anyway. Even my opponents were in awe of my awful luck.
