How do most people play it? Do you have to pick either +1 or -1 beforehand and then add it to all your rolls, or can you go +1 for the first roll and then -1 for the next? Can you decide the +1 or -1 after a reserve roll? (I don't have my codex in front of me)...

I believe that you can pick which to apply as you make the rolls. It doesn't say you can only pick one modifier and have to apply to to all the dice rolls.

You pick and choose as you wish. Note that you cannot wait until all your rolls have been made before you modify them.

yeah, you say what the modifier is before you roll the dice.

Like "I'm a rolling for my Stormraven, I don't want it to come in yet so its getting a -1"

then "Now I'm rolling for my Terminators, I want them now so they get a +1"

and so on...

So order is this? :

Roll psychic test, pass.
Roll reserves for unit A. Then decide if you want to add 1 or subtract 1.
Roll reserves for unit B. Then decide if you want to add 1 or subtract 1.

Is that right?

Close, its actually

Psychic Test

Test for unit A: pick + or -1. roll dice, apply modifier to roll.

Test for unit B: pick + or -1....

The rule for psychic communion says that you add +1 or -1 (choose AFTER EACH dice roll is made.)

You get to make each reserve roll before choosing the modifier. You cannot roll all your reserves and then apply them though.

So roll reserve 1, decide modifier

roll reserve 2, decide modifier,

etc.

GT - as was pointed out that is incorrect. You choose the modifier AFTER seeing the dice roll.

Sorry, i didn't have my book with me and was going off of memory.

Regardless. its not like it matters weather you decide right before or right after. you should already know which you want.

the real issue was weather you can use different modifiers on different rolls or if all rolls must use the same modifier.

You can use different modifiers on each roll.
