So after playing 40k since 2003 i decided it was finally time to man up and buy dawn of war and dawn of war 2. I have a mac, so i sucessfully partitioned my harddrive and am running windows 7 now. I tried to install DoW and there were no issues until i clicked on "play" then it said i had not properly installed directx, so i found out what that was(it is a file included with the game) and installed that, tried again and it still does not work and says it is not properly installed...what am i doing wrong? You are my only hope dakka!!!

btw, i am on a macbook pro 13 inch that is using snow leopard and am using windows 7 on the partitioned section of the pc? my software is up to date as far as i know...what am i missing?

There is no native support for DirectX on mac. You could try with CrossOver Games, its kinda like Wine but for mac, maybe you have some luck with that.

I'm not sure if its doable to run DirectX on your dualboot Win7 since there still is no support from the hardware. Im not a 100% on this though so you could try to download a fresh install from the web instead of the one included on your disc.

If that fails, you could install Ubuntu (or whatever Linux dist you prefer) and run try to run your games with Wine.

If you want to get rid of all this just get a PC and run Linux/Windows as dualboot. Mac has nothing to offer in my world

Also could be Video Card, I have yet to play DoW 2 because i am trying to play it on a dirt old labtop. Macs are for the college student who eats ketchup every night and like there computer to excrete light. Just get PC if you intend to play games, Mac is more work related

If you're a college student, you should spend money more wisely than a Mac. However, I'm not really going to get into all of my problems with Macs (they do some things very well, but MOST things just as well if not worse than a PC and that's all I'm going to say on it).

As for your specific problem:
DirectX is a video card driver. I'm not familiar enough with Macs to be able to tell what (if any) video card is included on your system. That being said, unfortunately there is no DirectX support for Macs as far as a quick google could tell. Your best bet, assuming you are willing to spend the money, is to download Steam and get the Mac versions from there.
