So I have been agonizing for weeks over what color to use for my Inquisitor themed Grey Knight army. Basic concept is a Radical Ordo Xenos inquisitor using alien technology, mind controlled xenos, and modified Imperial tech (rhinos, landraiders, etc.). The basic pallete is to be dark, but I don't want the standard red/black that is associated with the Inquisition and Witch Hunters. Another issue is I would prefer a mono-color scheme for ease of painting. I thought of maybe a dark grey, crimson red, maybe a dark olive green. I can't decide. Any one have any suggestions. Thanks.

Classic Color schemes in 2nd Ed 40k Had

Ordo Malius - Purple/Reds/Black/Whites

Ordo Xenos - Red/Black/Whites

Purple is always a radical color to paint. OK bad pun. Warlock Purple is my color of choice for my Grey Knight Inquisitor in Terminator armor.

Crimson Red is also good just stay on the darker tone and try to say away from the new colors of the blood angels.

That is the challenge of coming up with new schemes. Pick any GW color and there is a well-known Space Marine chapter that already uses it. As to the colors where did you pull the color info from 2nd edition. Was that from memory or from a specific book. I'm trying to track down any Ordo Xenos info I can. Thanks for the help.

But the Deathwatch is part of the Ordo Xenos and they are Black and Silver with chapter of origin on left pauldron.

In reality I suspect a radical Ordo Xeno's Inquisitor would use what ever color that would make him stand out from the rest. Or he may go subdue and blend into his men. Really its up to you.

Ordo Xenos Inquisitors are best considered to be 'big game hunters'.

Think of subdued colors, rather than the traditional Inquisition colors of red, black, and white. Go for muted greens and browns, the kinds of colors you'd see a turn of the century British big game hunter wearing in South Africa when he went after a lion.

This is the colour scheme i chose for my Adeptus Mechanicus army i built a while back. Its muted dark brown and greens combined with a more striking red.

I would think predominantly black. I'm basing it on the index Astartes article in which both the GK and DW were in black. Probably with red and silver trim.
