Just touching on this subject. Now that Apocalypse 2nd Edition has been released with the new 40K or Apocalypse stamps on them and a note that touches on their legality in game:

Cheers!

Link is broken. Sorry.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Nothing has changed...

Regular games are still opponent's consent, Tourneys are still ask the TO.

Just because the units were designed for 40k, doesn't change anything. It even says right there ask your opponent for permission!

Which means no different than the old Forgeworld.

But if you read this as these are now codex legal... then it makes all other FW books even less legal. So if it isn't in IAA2 book, then it is even double unlegal.

Nothing has changed. The only time this will change is if large indy events begin to allow IAA2 as core codex units int he independent competative metagame... then you will see a shift. Until that happens, this means nothing.

Probably work

Yup, nkelsch is completely spot on. For friendly games, I don't have to play you if I don't want to. Nothing you can do (in game terms) can compel me to play you. I either choose to or I don't, and I can make that decision on whatever arbitrary metric I choose. It could be your Warhound Titan, it could be your Lucius Drop Pod, it could even be that I just don't care for the color of orange you painted your marines with. Not saying I would do any of these things, but that's how it goes.

Tournaments have a well-known list of units and Codexes that are allowed. They WILL either allow for some/many Forgeworld units or they won't.

This changes nothing.

I like playing with/against FW rules, simply because it changes the game up a bit; there are only so many times that my orks can rip apart the space marine codex before I get bored.

People should be more permitting in regular games, allowing them into the appropriate codex. If you don't want to play a certain army, fine, but refusing to let somebody field a model that they have? Not so much. I play for fun, if somebody will have more fun playing with X-pattern dreadnought than with an ironclad, let them. It won't break the game.
