Ok, my flgs is having a Spearhead tourney next month that I am planning on playing in, but I had a few questions about the rules. I have never played spearhead before so I am not sure on everything. So here are my questions?
1) How does the force organization work? Do you still need 1HQ and 2Troops?
2) How exactly does the formations work into the FoC? Does the units/tanks in the sormation need to be in the FoC, or can I fill the HS slots with tanks and then take the linebreaker formation with 3 Vindis?
3) And this is more tactical, but which formations are good? I like the looks of the Tank Hunter and the rapid moving speeder one. But are they any good?
Thanks

1) No minimal force organization requirement (other than that you must take at least one spearhead). The only limit is that you can have just one type of each spearhead (so you can't take 2 crusher spearheads for example)
2) No. I think the formations are exempt from the FOC
3) can't answer that, sorry. It depends on you.

If you have a games workshop account you can down load the rules. Search for Warhammer 40,000: Spearhead Expansion

I have the rules, but just wanted some clarification.
The big one that I dont understand is whether or not the formations and FoC are seperate. Does the units/tanks in the formation have to fit on the FoC?

The Spearhead Formations don't take up a FoC per se. You are allowed as many formations as you want but can only take 1 of each. This means (for example), you could take 3 fire prisms as HS choices, and then an additional 3 fire prisms for the armoured spearhead formation.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Ok, cool. So I can take 3 vindicators in the FoC, then the tank hunter formation with 3 preds? But then do the units in the formation count as a single u.it and have to all shoot at the same target, it are they still seperate units and shoot independently?

The only thing I see in regards to 1 "unit" is that the spearhead counts as a single unit when being deployed/rolling for reserves. Due to similarities to Apocalypse formations, I would say that once on the board, they [the units in the spearhead] operate independently from each other.
