I am a giant fan of Jeremiah Kraye. I like his flavor, his model, his rules... but I also accept that I'm probably not really smart enough to take advantage of him without lots of practice.

So, I played him for the first time today. Took this list:

Kraye
Squire
Hunter X 2
Ironclad

Everything was going fairly well: Hunters picking things off with shooting, the Ironclad running around under Full Tilt making my opponent say things like "What do you mean he gets a 20'' run?" He was running a Cryx infantry swarm, which was less than ideal, but I was still handily outmaneuvering him, blinding his arc nodes.

Then, I saw and opportunity and took it. Asphyxious was open to a charge, so I popped Kraye's feat and sent a loaded-up Ironclad barreling into him. It proceeded to, despite its boosted rolls and the Cavalry Charge bonus, miss with the Quake, miss with one swing, whiff with another, and inflicting only four points of damage with the last. Then Gaspy killed it handily. We had to call the game there, but I wasn't at all sure I could have won, especially since one of my Hunters had a crippled gun arm.

None of this really surprised me, since I'm used to bad luck, but through it all, most of the other players weren't kind to Kraye, especially my fellow Cygnarians. So, my query is simple: who here actually likes Kraye, and why?

Kraye's not a bad caster, but his lists only function 1 way and after you've played against it once it gets boring quick.

As a Cyganr player I prefer casters with a little more tactical flexibility than Kraye's jack bullet. That being said I love his model.

Just wait until the minuteman Warjack is out, then you'll see Kraye more often.

I like Kraye! I like that he's jack friendly and its cool that he's on a horse. I also like the 'American Civil War' vibe I get from him. I don't have him yet (actually I don't have any Cygnar right now... just poopy Menoth) but I've made a couple lists with him. If you're going to play larger games with him, see if you can get a Defender in there.

Kraye can be deadly under the right circumstances. Centurions effectively running AND turning on their magno-shields under Full Tilt is a seriously fast roadblock; same goes for a Cyclone walking 10" and dropping his two templates a further 10" away. Speaking of Cyclones, they love them some guided fire. Hitting DEF 16 very reliably with a POW12, and doing it 2d3 times? Gravy. Give him 3 focus and boost as many damage rolls as you can get, and plenty of casters caught without focus/fury will die right then and there.

I rather like the Hammersmith with him as well. If you save his feat for the assassination run, the distances and damage are absurd. Firstly, he can charge (for free) 13" under Full Tilt. Secondly, his boosted MAT 6, POW12 impact attacks will kill basically any infantry that stand between him and the caster. Once he gets there, boosted MAT6 is going to consistently hit most casters. That means if you manage to land the first three blows, that's 1 boosted and 5 unboosted POW17s the enemy caster has taken (assuming you loaded it with focus). Even if they survive all that, you've got an ARM19 heavy in b2b with their caster who may be knocked down, and Kraye is in all likelihood 25 inches away, sitting back in a forest drinking whiskey with his Rangers and his Hunters.

I like him as he brings two things to table with him: jack buffing and distinct play style. I haven't played any games with him, but it seems that he is challenging to play. He is really starving for focus between casting spells and feeding his jacks.

I have Kraye, but haven't played him yet. I am definitely planning to do so soon, and am eagerly awaiting the Minuteman jack - those are going to be fun with him.

during my cygnar stint i played kraye with the stormclad bullet. worked reasonably well. also liked hunters with fast cav moves and heavies with impact hits.

An Ironclad missed on a boosted MAT 9 swing?

Bad luck indeed.

No crits either?

One. When I rolled two ones and a four on a subsequent swing.

Missing.
