I think it is not a mere coincidence, that there is one unit named Cairn Wraith (which is ethereal, skeleton looking and can be raised from dead), there is another unit named Necron Wraith (with same qualities), and also there is third unit from 40K called Cairn Class Tombship (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1101852).

Also look at these eyes:

This is clearly a necron head (optional from GW FB cairn wraith blister)!

Combined with apparent lack of plastic necron wraith release, I think this is obvious and intended proxy from GW.

What do you think? I am going to buy one and paint into my necrons theme to see how well it will fit.

If anyone is using these as count as for Necron Wraith, please provide some photos. My imagination can't make a picture of metal cairn wraith with ceramic/leather/liquid metal cape.

on the forum. Obviously

Yeah its coincidental. You do realize that all skulls generally look the same right?
And the reason why there are no plastic (or any, for that matter) wraiths is cause they're being redone.

The skull from the picture I posted doesn't look like generic for me. And this little thing in its forehead is very similiar to necron runes (or not?)

Repaint its cape and convert its scythe - and Necron Wrath it is.

OH! Its a conversion you want.

Yeah it'll be fine to convert it.

But I still wouldn't say that its an intended proxy.
