I tried this list out against a CSM player and it did really well (tabled him on turn 5) I was just wondering what people thought and how it might do against other stronger armies? I know DE would be a hard fight, but they always are for Nids. Thanks
HQ
Swarmlord and 2 Tyrant Guard with Lash Whips
Tervigon with AG, TS, Clusterspines and Catalyst
Elites
3 Hive Guard
3 Zoanthropes in Pod
Doom of Malantai in Pod
Troops
13 Termagaunts
13 Termagaunts
13 Termagaunts
Tervigon with AG, TS, Clusterspines and Catalyst
Tervigon with AG, TS, Clusterspines and Catalyst
Tervigon with AG, TS, Clusterspines and Catalyst
Heavy Support
Trygon Prime with AG
3 Biovores
Carnifex with 2 sets of TL Devours in a pod
When I played this list against the CSM player I had over 160 gaunts on the table by end of turn 2. I use them as a super meat shield protecting everything while the whole swarm moves up. Thoughts?

I love this list, I play one very very similar to it. My roommate, whom I play most often, also plays CSM and I have tabled him the last two games we played (which were also the only 2 games I ever ran my nids).
Good to see we both are having similar success!
My big difference is the HS section; I run 3 unprimed Trygons. I don't see a big problem with what you run though, it seems like it would work. I've been interested in biovores lately, care to comment on their use and effectiveness in your opinion?
I used to use 3 zoeys in a pod but I stopped because hive guard are sooo much more useful. My CSM opponent doesn't use land raiders, so I don't need the lances, yours might though I suppose. I also use Doom, I love that guy. Maybe switch the zoeys out for more HG but it depends on what you are using them for.
I personally only run 1 tyrant guard with Swarmy, I've used 2 before but it was overkill. 1 is enough for me once you provide some cover for his unit.
You could drop the gaunt squads to 10 instead of 13, would save a few points.
I don't know this is a very solid list and I don't see much improvement needed here. You'll spend a lot of time nit-picking 5-10 points here and there but you have a solid list. Experiment with Gargoyles, either as meat shields or heavy hitters, Flyrants, etc. I use those to great success in my list.
Good Luck!

Thanks. Yeah the CSM guy I play loves Land raiders, he takes termie squads just to get them as DT. Then they never go in them lol.
The Biovores are kinda cool and fun at the same time. I usually place them behind a wall some where and just have them lob shells. 48 inch barrage isnt too bad, and if it scatter no biggie you get floating mines for free. Dont get me wrong they are not power houses but they cause hate and discontent lol.
I was thinking about the HS. I could drop the Dakkafex and a few gaunts and get another Trygon Prime. I like to have lots of Synapse... but 12 Str 6 TL shots going into the back of a rhino or other easy target is pretty fun.
You are 100% right about the Doom, prolly my fav unit. Nothing like dropping him next to a group of damn plague marines holding an objective and watching them die. Spirit Leech then Cataclysm is vicious.
Thanks for the support.

I don't think you need the 4th tervigon in the HQ slot. Also, carnifex with dual TL devourers is probably better walking in with the tervigons than D/S. Why not then drop the extra tervigon and add a second dakka fex in a squadron or run a second trygon. I have to admit I like trygons in pairs - singles just stand out a bit too much for me ...

I support using two trygons, but I would suggest try a game running them unprimed. They have Ld 8 for starters- thats marine Ld, not too shabby. Chances of them failing are fairly low in my experience. Also, if they do fail, their instinctive behavior is beneficial to them. The synapse is nice but you have 4 tervigons and Swarmy- synapse shouldn't be an issue for you. Same theory applies to SItW. An extra 6 shots is nice, but again, the only time you should be shooting with them is when the DS in, and even then you probably want to run. Otherwise, since they have fleet, you want to run/assault whenever possible.
If you take 2 trygons thats 80 points you can spend elsewhere instead of on priming them.
I'd also suggest DS'ing them. You are using Swarmy who buffs reserve rolls- utilize this. A DS'ing trygon is devastating when it arrives. Also, if you can find the points to trim, try adding a unit of genestealers and outflanking them- again utilizing Swarmy's ability.
Just some more thoughts on what I've done that works well.

You'll also want to be careful around Annihilation games. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Tervigons for their spam ability, but that can work against you in an Annihilation games as you're pumping out broods that each count as a kill point. On the other hand, I've also played games where my opponent is so fixated on those Termagaunts closing in on them, they go after them instead of the larger and scarier monsters that they SHOULD be going after. Your strategy is quite sound, however, as using them as a meat shield. It can get VERY unnerving to your opponent when there's suddenly 160+ gaunts out on the table all coming at him as fast as their little legs can carry them. I usually just play ONE Tervigon in my army and it intimidates many of my opponents.
Biovores ARE great, and they are pure entertainment value when they pump their spore mines all over the place. I've actually been rather successful at using them as terrain denial weapons. Opponents just usually seem to be afraid of S4 pie plate weapons. They're definitely more for harrassment and intimidation than they are really for taking units out. The Spore Mines are PURELY anti-infantry.

Just a question - You said you had over 160 gants on the table at the end of turn 2. Taking out the 39 you started with, that's 121 spawned... and assuming that none get shot.
Over 2 turns, that's 60 gants/turn, 15 gants/tervi. You averaged the highest non double roll for every tervi for both turns?
I'm not trying to call you out, I just see reports of millions of gants spawned and (not that I like tervi's in the first place) but I don't see those numbers being as consistent as they seem.
Even assuming you rolled 4 18's the second turn, that's an average of 12ish per tervi the first turn, and you cannot get doubles. With the highest non double being 15, 12 is pretty high.
Sorry for the OT - I do like the biovore and the Carnifex.
