Staying on target.....

Hey all,

In a previous post I stated I was starting an elven army, while this is true I am also very much interested in making a small osgiliath army, so my question is what do osgiliath veterans do compared to standard warriors of minas tirith? I only ask this as I do not have the up to date rules, I want to purchase the book but it just aint that simple when its 35 quid

Cheers

I think if I remember correctly that they have the same statistics but one more fight value.

They have an extra point of courage, that's the only difference iirc

Did you know? The Reach belongs to the Forsworn.

Ah yeah that's right I remember thinking how expensive they were (for pretty much nothing) and how strange it was they didn't have +1 to their fight value. They're not worth it before you ask, but if it's for the scenario or looks then it's different.

So...are you asking SBG, or War of the Ring? In War the main attraction of the veterans is their special rules. They don't take Terror tests, and there's some other stuff, IIRC. With Boromir in the unit, they are downright deadly.

Don't forget this extra rule they have (copied from GW site). Combine this with Boromir's banner of Minas Tirith and you have a warrior with a very high fight value.

Osgiliath Veteran
Loyal to the Captains. The Osgiliath Veterans have fought alongside Boromir and
Faramir for months, if not years, and each one of them is loyal unto death. So long as an
Osgiliath Veteran is within 6"/14cm of either Boromir or Faramir (or both) he receives a
bonus of +1 to its Fight value.

If you're planning your army around Boromir with his banner you should certainly have some. And the veterans are very cool models I think.

I've got to admit, these fella's are swaying me away from doing an elven helms deep army, always have liked the models, oh decisions, decisions. And yeh if I recall correctly what the banner does, I will be taking it for sure
