Mmmm, starting underlining that it isn't properly easy build up a very effective Vanilla Gunline list at 1500 pts (have you considered Space Wolves?) I see some little problem.

1) the Motf with Conversion Beamer is a logical choice for his shooting long range attack but you aren't really profiting by one of his bonus. Why not take more Dreads?

2) Gunlines are usually static. This will compliment the Moft forge choice (Bolster Defence ability) and one more time more Dreads would be easily placed in cover than bigger vehicles like predators.

3) why a MM Dread? If the enemy reach you at 24" you almost failed your purpouse deploying a gunline.

4) why you're gonna mixin' a combi-melta and a Flamer on the combat squadded Tactical teams? Just build up them 1 with flamers and 1 with meltas.

5) you don't need 10 scouts. A team of 5 with camo cloacks, rifles and eventually a ML will be largely enough. Obviously in cover where you applied the Bolster Defence ability.

6) Why a Vindicator? Vindicators usually works in couple. Only one of them isn't enough reliable at all.

If you allow me I will advice you 2 similar lists, with more or less the same pieces, the first with Vanilla Marines and the second with SW codex.

Vanilla:
HQ - Master of the Forge - Conversion Beamer. 120
EL - Dreadnought - 2x TL Autocannons. 125
EL - Dreadnought - 2x TL Autocannons. 125
EL - Dreadnought - 2x TL Autocannons. 125
TR - 10x Tacticals - PW/combi-meltas - flamer - ML - Rhino. 230
TR - 10x Tacticals - PF/combi-meltas - meltagun - ML - Rhino. 245
FA - Land Speeder - HB - TML. 90
FA - Land Speeder - HB - TML. 90
HV - Thunderfire Cannon. 100
HV - Dreadnought - 2x TL Autocannons. 125
HV - Dreadnought - 2x TL Autocannons. 125

Bolstering 2 terrains you'll can split a little your forces granting to both the macro-units an upgraded cover save. In this case the various Dreadnoughts would be easiest to deploy.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Space Wolves:
HQ - Rune Priest - Living Lightning & Storm Caller - Chooser of the Slain. 110
TR - 5x Grey Hunters - Meltagun - Rhino. 115
TR - 5x Grey Hunters - Meltagun - LAS/PLAS Razorback - Dozer Blade. 160
TR - 5x Grey Hunters - Meltagun - LAS/PLAS Razorback - Dozer Blade. 160
TR - 5x Grey Hunters - Flamer - LAS/PLAS Razorback - Dozer Blade. 155
TR - 5x Grey Hunters - Flamer - LAS/PLAS Razorback - Dozer Blade. 155
HV - 6x Long Fangs - 5x ML - LAS/PLAS Razorback. 215
HV - 6x Long Fangs - 5x ML - LAS/PLAS Razorback. 215
HV - 6x Long Fangs - 5x ML - LAS/PLAS Razorback. 215
Tot. 1500

As you can easy see this last list has a lot of dakka, I mean really a lot.

Up to you now.

I would go with scouts in the new list, if only for their range. Or razorbacks as they should fit into the list.

You will also need other options as certain armies will out shoot you so you need to be able to charge the enemy down.

You want a gunline? My advice is to take devastators and razorbacks.

1. Razorbacks are one of the most cost efficient ways to get Lascannons on the board.
2. Devastators promote the stand off abilities and ML will almost equal the power of a Vindicator. (Sure no big S10 pie plate but twice the range and you won't get dinged by enemy fire.)
3. Sternguard are efficient use of elite choices for gunlines as they can get some high priced options at a discount.
4. If you want to gunline your army go cheap with your HQ - a base librarian to shut down psychic abilities or a counterattack captain.

I think for 210 pts you can get a sternguard with two ML and a las/plas razorback.

For 260 you get a devastator with 4 ML and a las/plas razorback.

I would take either of those over AC dreadnoughts.

Again if you are going gunline - take cheap 5-man tacticals in las/plas razorbacks 165 and you have one of those so
1 x Librarian 100
3 x 5 Sternguard w 2 Plasma Cannon 660
3 x 5 Tacs 495
2 x 6Devastators w 4 ML 520

Now this is quick and I am sure over 1500 but this yields. I am sure it will still yield more firepower than the ACs. Also if you want to contain some costs for a little less survivability lose a devastator squad for typhoon speeders.

8 x ML, 6 x Plasma Cannons, 8 x LasCannons and 8 x TL Plasma Rifles. (2 x ML at WS 5)

The vanilla list above gives you
1 conversion beamer
10 TL Autocannons
2 ML
2 Typhoon ML

DAaddict, excuse me.. if you finally decide to go with devastators and razorbacks (and the like..) drop that fluffy Vanilla codex for the SW one.

EVERYTHING you named, if in comparison, is cheaper and more efficient.

I agree. I thought the point was he WANTED a vanilla gunline not THE BEST gunline. Otherwise I would make an argument for fast razorbacks in a BA codex or the SW most-point-efficient gunline.
