Subject: Eldar help?

Stalwart Dark Angels Space Marine

Hello guys I am looking for help on what kind of Eldar lists are out there that excel in shooting (Not close combat). I am looking for a Eldar shooty army because I am sick of Imperial Guard for shooting, And I have a BA tournament force for CC. In recent battle reports I have noticed in my opinion Eldar have a Good shooting based army if played right, (in my opinion).
Any help would be excellent! thanks

If you want to focus on the shooting aspect of Eldar, I personally like to use War Walkers with 2 scatter lasers. Warp Spyders are also a lot of fun. Fire Prisms can bring some pain, and for tank busting Bright Lances are pretty nice when on Wave Serpents.
I like to always run Warp Spyders and at least 1 squad of War Walkers with 2 scatter lasers. Get a farseer for fortune and guide(or eldrad so he can cast guide twice) and now you're really cooking with fire.
Scatter lasers and Warp Spiders are both Strength 6, so for most infantry you're wounding on 2+.

I have had a TON of fun running the standard Mechdar list. Spamming Wave serpents with Scatter Lasers and 3 Fire Prisms makes your army extremely fast, extremely mobile, and pretty scary when your opponent is staring down a ton of AV 12 tanks.
I must say, toss some eldar missile launchers onto a few serpents just for some added str 8 shots. After fire dragons melt the hell out of tougher tanks, they tend to die real fast. Having that backup fire power that can down armor 12 no prob is really nice.
Fire Prisms are BEAST if you run 3 and link all their blasts. Your talking about a str 7 ap 2 TL large blast...termies cry.
All in all, I LOVE my Mech eldar list and it has some nice fire power, amazing speed, and still has a nice competitive edge even for an old codex. Check out some of my battle reports...I lose quite a bit, but their all close games and it tends to come down to me making stupid mistakes. Hope this helped.

Also the most commonly seen unit in any shooty eldar army should be Fire Dragons inside wave serpents. This of course is AT and Anti-heavy-infantry- MC etc

Yea, I like warp spyders because you get 12 move, shoot, then 2 D6 in any direction instead of assault. They're a good harassment unit, that generally makes back my points, but YMMV.
Generally I like to push as many strength 6 shots as I can. I find Scatter Lasers useful for killing transports like rhinos, trukks, and stuff of the like. And once they're out of the transports, you get to open up with those shots into their faces!
Bright Lances and Fire Prism's help with Land Raiders.

Shootiest Eldar stuff are :
1 squadron of 3 war walker with dual scatter lasers ( these can be Guided and Doomed by a Farseer )
Dire Avengers with Blade Storm in a Wave Serpent ( also assistance by Farseer )
Fire Dragons in a Wave Serpent
3 Vypers with 2 Shuriken Canons each are pretty shooty, vroom behind a unit that was hiding in cover and pew pew.

I own some 18,000 points worth of fully painted Eldar. I play them exclusively at every level from 1500 to 15,000 Apocalypse.
Eldar are not a melee force.
Eldar are not a shooty force.
Eldar are not a hybrid force.
Eldar are a gamesmanship force.
They are the West Coast offense of the 40k universe.
They take advantage of the weaknesses of the enemy and seek to win by 1 point.
It took me a long time to embrace the path of the Eldar.
It is a very different style of play.
Your primary objective is to piss off your opponent and get him out of his game plan.
Here is the force I use at 2000 points. It does very well in tournaments.
Eldrad
Autarch (fusion gun)
3x5 man Fire Dragons in Wave Serpents with stones and scatter lasers
3x5 man Dire Avengers in Falcons with EML, stones, and holofields.
that is 1625 points.
From there add what you like to the Autarch, and something to deal with hordes.
The beauty of the DAVU Falcons is that they are cheap for what they do. Compare them to 5 Dire Avengers in a Wave Serpent plus a Fire Prism, because that is what they are worth. They are log range fire support, and durable transports. They are better at holding objectives because the holofields work against melee attacks, where wave serpent energy fields do not.
I usually choose to go 2nd and reserve everything. That gives me an extra turn of shooting, and the ability to focus on objectives on the last turn.
I have added storm guardians with the flamer/destructor combo, I have also used Shuriken/Shuriken Vypers in pairs for S6 spam.
Be constantly in motion. Focus your fire to immobilize/kill transports first. As soon as the enemy is on foot, you have a great advantage.
Your Fire Dragons are suicide squads. If their wave serpent survives to ram or contest, it is free money.
Your horde contingent is also suicidal cannon fodder. You play the game to demobilize your opponent and keep your scoring falcons moving at the end. With cover saves, especially fortuned cover saves, your opponent will quickly shift his fire away from the unkillable Falcons to the other threats. That is exactly what you want. Eldrad should ride in a Falcon, fortune his, and guide the other two. Stay away from the enemy. The Autarch rides with a Fire Dragon unit and goes toward the most threatening AV 14 enemy. Feel free to seperate your Autarch to shoot at a different vehicle. Vs. IG let the squad shoot at a squadron, while the Autarch picks out an individual target.
Good Luck

Uh, ArmyC, I don't understand at all how that list does well in tournaments... considering that it isn't legal D:
Falcons are a heavy support choice, as a result you can only take 3 of them total. So unless you meant 3 DAVU Falcons and 2 DAVU Serpents... then your list as you wrote it is in no way legal.
That said your actual strategy advice is pretty good
