Hey I'm back from a seasonal hiatus of fishing, camping, hanging out with friends and job hunting. As the temps go down I start my wargaming by dusting minis off, making new paint schemes, listening to podcasts and lurking on the interwebz . I wonder do any of you dakkanauts go on a seasonal hiatus like me or wargaming is year round? I would like to play more games during the summer months but my family is outdoorsman kinda of family

All year round.
I'm not into fishing or outdoor sports (don't have the knees for participation and getting sweaty and muddy just doesn't appeal.)
I only take a hiatus when the boss says so.
Generally only the month of August (anniversary) - we go away for a few weeks.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

Cool! It's good to know that people can do their hobby of choice year round because it would suck if you couldn't do something you liked atleast a couple of times a month!

Not all year round, I take a 5-6 week break every year when the wife and I go visit family in the P.I. Aside from that, im really only a weekend wargamer, I work 60-72 hours a week and can only fit it in on my days off

Our local league plays on wednesday nights so it leaves weekends free. Between the League and various RTTs/Tournys I must get in an easy 75 games a year.
But that also leaves time to go camping on long weekends (the kids love tent-camping on the beach), horseback riding, zoos, Seaworld, and tons of other family stuff.
Living in SoCal their is always something going on so we have never had the need to take extra long time off work to accomodate a specific activity.

Life isn't fair. But wouldn't it be worse if Life were fair, and all of the really terrible things that happen to us were because we deserved them?

That's nice set up you got there! I normally get around atleast 20 or more games in during the fall and winter but that's was a long time ago! Now I need to get back to playing games at the flgs!

Why not get the guys over and play some games at your house or flgs or maybe start a club like the weekend warriors club!
