Im still planning those pirates, and as soon as i get my hands on some money ill buy a few models. I intended to build an imperial guard army with very few, heavily converted and unique models. So I'm going to have beardy Space Wolve heads and looted eldar helmets, and i also want to have Cadians with Catachan bitz and vice versa. But, does that work? Has anyone tried it before?

Advice would be welcome

LOOK!! a shameless self-promotion! (gasp!)

Cadians and Catachans will go together wonderfully. They use the same modular pattern (legs/torso/head/left arm/right arm) in each figure so there's no issue with compatability. The only thing I would add, although I have no personal experience, is that I can see a Catachan muscly arm possibly looking out of place on a thinner, refined Cadian, but as for the practical side of simply being able to glue parts together, you will have no trouble.

The Catachan bitz are a tad oversized, especially the arms, in comparison to Cadian bitz. They're just built to a slightly bigger scale than the average guardsman.

Quick google search:-

Other combinations may work, swapping out a torso for example. Heads should be fine. Don't know about legs. But I'd avoid the above if at all possible.

Cadians have man skirts. Which means unless you put a top on them that goes all the way around you have to greenstuff a set of tied sleeves around their wastes. Catachan to Cadian isnt quite as difficult.

Re: Jungle Fighter arms on Cadian torsos, I'm just guessing but I bet painting the arms n darker colors than the vests (like they're wearing tight sleeves) will somewhat mitigate the steroid abuse look.

"Well, isn't the enemy of your enemy, like, your friend? Or whatever? Can't they team up?"
"Not exactly. In this setting, the enemy of your enemy is still a floating, greasy, armored brain."
"Well, what about his enemy? Maybe you could be friends with him."
"No, because that guy is a mechanical horror in an undying battle shell. He sails from world to world in a flying tomb, serving gods who eat hope."

Arms and heads are fairly interchangable. Torsos and legs can take a little work, as the Cadians have their belt on the bottom of the torso, while the basic Catachans have their belt on the top of the leg piece. So mixing them gives you a long torso wearing two belts, or a short guy with no belt.

This isn't as much of a problem if you are using parts from the Catachan heavy weapons or Command boxes, since those are laid out the same as the Cadians.

On the other hand, this WILL solve the double belt issue the cadian torso to Catachan legs tends to have (Catachans have the belts on the legs, Cadians have them on the torsos).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
