Being the kind of forum that this is, I expect there to be many a manga/anime fan on here. I have just read the very latest Naruto manga (561) and holy cow has there been a twist in the plot!!!

So my question to you fellow manga/anime dakkites, is who do you think is now behind that mask??

P.s: I have tried to be as subtle as possible with this question so that people who are a little behind don't get an accidental spoiler though it is kinda hard to do

Probably Obito. At this point, I don't really care. It could be the Third Hokage for all I care, given the crap Kishimoto has made out of the manga.

Thankfully, HxH came out of hiatus, so I'm still a happy manga reader.

Behind what mask? I kind of dropped off back in the shippuden days where they were trying to rescue Sasuke. They would literally take an episode's worth of content and stretch it over 20 episodes. I couldn't stand it any more.

Currently, the Manga is as thus:

Akatsuki was secretly run by a masked operative named Tobi, who later proclaimed himself to be Madara Uchiha.

Most of the Akatsuki were killed or betrayed Madara/Tobi, who were then later killed.

Sasuke aligned with the Akatsuiki after killing Itachi as part of his vendetta. Now he seeks to destroy the Land of Fire.

Madara/Tobi confronted Kabuto, Orochimaru's former right hand man and now a powerful antagonist in his own right. Kabuto perfected the Impure World Resurection Technique (bringing dead people to life), and one of the reanimated corpses revealed is Madara Uchiha.

Such as it is, to posit who is actually Madara/Tobi is an interesting question.

The list of candidates:

Madara Uchiha- it's a freakishly farstretched world and what could happen. There is the possibility that there could be two Madaras in operation.

Madara's brother- Izuna Uchiha- a twist in this possiblity that it could be Madara's brother come back from the dead (it was stated and implied he died after losing his eyes to Madara)

Sage of the Sixth Path's eldest son- this is the direct ancestor to which the Uchiha clan was born. Again, not impossible for this to be the man whose hatred could propel him to the present and in turn work to end the world as it is known.

Obito Uchiha- a fan speculation that Kakashi's former teammate somehow lived and now is plotting revenge against Konoha. Wild speculation to say the least.

Another Uchiha- possible that another Uchiha is the culprit, a minor one that was already introduced or one who was not.

A non Uchiha- another distinct possibility that someone stole and awakened the Sharingan on their own much like Kakashi has been shown to be able to do. Senju (the clan that founded the Hidden Leaf Village) DNA is needed to control the Rinnegan.

What is known is thus-

Tobi is a very powerful ninja at the very least, capable of threatening not only the Leaf Village but the world at large.

Tobi has access to the Sharingan, but has not shown any higher level access to a Mangekyo Sharingan.

Tobi had to obtain the Rinnengan by stealing it from the corpse of Pain, while the true Madara Uchiha had developed the Rinnengan eyes by his own use of his Mangekyo Sharingan.

The Impure World Resurrection technique requires a soul to be able to perform. Such a requirement would mean anyone still alive or bound by soul by other means would invalidate their summoning. This should mean that Madara Uchiha and Itachi Uchiha are not candidates for Tobi. It would mean any currently resurrected should not be suspects for whomever is behind the mask.

It's a shame so many people have dropped it, there have been some insanely cool parts in shippuden, yeh some horrible filler stuff but thats just so the anime drops back from catching up the manga.

I really tried to keep watching it. I just couldn't take those stretched out filler episodes. I remember watching an episode that was probably 10 after the last one I watched and it literally looked like nothing happened.

No Idea at all. I'm at least happy Madara regained his name as a badass, since Tobi has been such a Poser.

If I had to Guess, I'd say Izuna.

@ Scyth - No probs man, I'll get onto it tonight There are some epic fights that people should just not miss out on.

@ Sasori - Yeh I get what you mean, tobi did absolutely nothing and still hasn't except for stir up. Madara's jutsu is beast and who knew he could develop his eyes yet further!!!

I think the Sharingan developing into the Rinnegan was pretty stupid. The Sharingan already gets all the spotlight, adding more like that is just stupid.
