I've got around 1500 points (old codex) of footslogging 'crons already and am looking at the various kits coming out on the 5th. What I'd like are suggestions as to what I need in order to bring my force into some sort of focus. I don't need to win tournaments but I'd like to win as much as I lose at least in friendly/campaign games.

I already have 1 Destroyer Lord, 48 Warriors, 2 Wraiths, 2 Tomb Spyders, 6 Destroyers, and 3 Heavy Destroyers. I also own 1 Tomb Crawler and 10 Scarab Swarms not pictured.

I know I need at least one Monolith but don't really know what else to get. I don't want to buy stuff that really won't be used, like I did with my Dark Eldar. :(

Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Well, there's deathmarks, they should give some firepower, but just get some immortals, at the moment, they are tougher and have better shooting, but obviously this could change, so you should probably bulk up with elites and maybe another lord? I mean two ressurection orbs is a brilliant combo, especially with all that we'll be back in your force

on the forum. Obviously

Deathmarks are...ok. Apparently they will be great at annoying reserves, cause of their special ability. And 2+ to wound against a certain unit is always nice.

Immortals - Stock up on these. They are troops now, and even though the blasters are now Rapid fire and have T4, they can still do a bit of damage.

Monolith (that's a given)

Wraiths have recieved quite a power boost as well.

i dont know about the monolith, i have one, but i think that they are losing the ability to negate the 2d6 penetration by melta, making them much less resilient, especially with all of the blood angels and fast attacking melta things out there, the new doomsday gun or whatever vehicle with the huge cannon looks like it could be mean(S9 AP1 large blast)

I would have a bit of patience, wait a week, and see what the codex actually has for rules before buying anything.

This. A few of the leaked rules have already proven to be slightly off, so there is still a good deal of uncertainty about things.

I have an idea of what my Necrons will look like based on the rumors we've heard so far, but I will probably spend a week studying the codex before taking the plunge. The only models I'm certain I'll get right away are the new Lords as they look way cool and are basically compulsory in any build.

Exactly. The new codex should be up for pre-order tomorrow.

Get that, then make your decision. Besides, your current list might not be legal anyway. Some things like FOC slot, unit count, and upgrades may have changed.

Okay. I decided to go with two of each as a start. That should do until I decide how I want to finalize my 2000 and 2500 lists.

Honestly i would go for a pack of Immortals/Deathmarks and a pack of warriors because that means you probably will be able to make 10 immortals and 5 deathmarks given that there are a extra arms, seeing as you would get 5 blasters, 5 tesla carbines and deathmark weapons as well, a little conversion and you have 10 Immortals and 5 Deathmarks.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

Well, going off of the rumored rules,

I would get a couple of Ghost Arks. The ability to replenish a depleted squad can't be ignored.

Definitly get Immortals.

You will probably need to get an Overlord model, Necron Lords are now a bodyguard type unit for the Overlord similer in function to Wolf Guard(they can join units, or be a seperate one)

But seeing as how the Codex will be out very soon, I would wait till you can see the actual rules

Yea, since magnets are not really a good option with Necrons, I think getting extra bodies will be the best thing. I don't know yet if Warrior bodies look enough like Immortals/Deathmarks for me to be willing to do that. However the eBay bits sellers should have lots of bodies up for auction soon enough.

I placed my order with miniaturemarket.com for the new plastic kits and got 25% off and free shipping but it'll be at least a week after release before I get them. Oh, well. I have my Ogres until then.
