I am plagued by many fears and horrors, most of them brought on by a bought of late-night wiki reading about some horror film that I wont watch but read about.

mostly I get terrible fears from these, like, 'what if [insert creepy kiiju here] is just around the corner?' this used to stop me from venturing into the pitch-blck downstairs and unlocking doors into cavernous rooms in the night for a drink of water.
but I always console myself in this.

"I feel creepy hands on my face from behind, the thing is minus it's fingers because I have teeth." or. "if something sneaks up on me, I will most likely panic and smash it into a pulp with what is at hand before I look at what I am destroying." or even. "ghost? tell it to bugger off." (that would make it confused, no doubt.) this, coupled with the fact that I look downright terrifying with my 'maniac gin' on, keeps me comfy.

what about you?

Simple, there is nothing actually there to fear. Generally that's how I deal with it, I drown it in boring dry logic.

Yes, even the great Frazzled has had that.
FACE THE FEAR and remember this epic quote:
Yea though I walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death
I shall fear no Evil
For I am the Baddest Mother in the Valley.

-"Wait a minute.....who is that Frazz is talking to in the gallery? Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG

I'm not scared of the supernatural, horror films revolving around supernatural elements tend to creep me out but never really scare me.

The natural world scares the gak of me though, some of the things that have lived on this planet are worse than anything a horror writer could come up with.

Probably work

The notion of infinity usually creeps me out. As in a physical expression of it, like a sprawling emptiness that spans on for infinity. Not really agoraphobic or anything like that. The notion of outer space isn't even that bad, because there are still points of reference in stars and planets.

Really, I guess the only way I can describe it would be like in a computer game, if you were to clip through one of the walls to the outer edges of the level, and just have nothing there. No gravity, complete lack of references, just void.

As far as being able to deal with it, well, thankfully the thought of it doesn't exactly come up often, so it's not really something that haunts me on a regular basis.

on the forum. Obviously

Repeat the following:

Fear is the mind killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing......Only I will remain.

As far as fears go I have a few of the basics and a few that are strange, and then one thats flat out illogical.

Basics:
Darkness - I'm not really afraid, I just don't like not being able to see when I wake up. I have a tendency to trip out when I sleep and halucinate and waking up in pure darkness makes it worse.
Cockroaches - Dude, those things are nasty as hell.
Black Widows - Not spiders in general mind you, just the poisonous ones.

Strange:
Nuclear War - Shrug, I have this fear of one day seeing a bright light and bam it all goes up. Not as unlikely as it would seem as everyone and their mother has nukes lol. Not a day to day worry but it is a fear in the back of my mind. You'd think I grew up during the cold war or something...

Illogical:
Open Space - You know people who lay on the grass and look at the clouds to see shapes. I can do it, but when I do, I get this feeling like I'm going to fall up. I don't understand it, but its unnerving. Logic dictates otherwise of course, but my body constantly tells me, hold on buddy, you might fall! Its stupid and I hate it lol.

How I deal with fear:
I try to work out my fears with logic and it helps a lot, and then I'll do something funny in order to kill the tension. So far example, if I wake up at night thinking I saw a man in the closet, I first let myself get awake, then I glare at the closet and tell the hallucination off hehe. Seems to help.

Crazy: Indeed I am.

I prefer:
Though I fly the Valley of the Shadow of Death
I shall fear no evil
For I am at 80,000 feet and climbing.

The only things I fear are millipedes/centipedes (I'm still not sure if its actually fear or just intense disgust), death (ironic given my career path, and I don't mean I fear the act of dying/the physical discomfort, etc. I mean I fear what happens after I die, the cessation of mental/'spiritual'existence creeps the gak out of me), and loneliness:

Fear in it self is is just your mind playing with you. More you give into it the more your fear build into a monster of an issue. Fear though is the mind telling you to either not do it, avoid it, or get away from it. There have been times I myself have been scared to go outside the "wire" to complete my missions. If alone I would no way in Hell do it. Since I lead troops you bet your ass I be in front. Combat is an eqaulizer for everyone. You either perform/overcome/adjust to do what needs to be done. Peer pressure in a military unit does wonder for an individual to get by fear. Because the fear of letting down your buddies in a situation is a driving force...that and it does get real personnel when some poor hygenic man robe wearing illiterate knucklehead starts firing at you. Also its a male mentality to not to give into fear. Also a human nature to let your mind wonder to cause of the "what if" factor. Now being "worry" is not fear. Its the unknown that makes you worry but then you do plan against something that would make you worry to lessen the strain of being worry but then you can't think of everything to counter against worry. I worry about my family and love ones in case one of my deployments I get smoked. Its not worry its "regret" IE not seeing my daughhter grow up is one.
Supernatural fear well lets see. Would you go into a hunted house alone on a dare? Yes I would cause its peer pressure. Majority of the time your not going alone since peer pressure works both way. Since your buddies are like "Hell if he's doing it then so can I!" (course alcohol does help giving one false motivation to do it). One of the creepist thing I done was spent a night in a old fort that was built in Alexander time that was pretty much surrounded by a graveyard in Afghanistan. With all the night vision gear and weapons it does give one a good sense of security. Will say though over the "net" there was quite a few movements being seen in the graveyard through out the late night.

I don't have that many fears. I may jump but that is not fear. I am wary of certain things, that is not fear.

But Fear of death does not exist to me.

Fear of being killed dishonorably nope.

Fear of the supernatural, and the unexplained. Yes, anything i cannot reasonably explain scares the hell out of me. At least in the natural world it makes sense but if something if it ever happens that is supernatural, it will scare the gak out of me.

I watch supernatural films don't surprise me because theres always an explanation, in order to be scary it has to be unexplained for me to hug the covers at night.

That is what everyone should fear.

Why? being unanswered is something we all fear... For what goes bump in the night? Me you Git! Now get back to work! I am watching my hot neighbor girl!

From whom are unforgiven we bring the mercy of war.
