Just had on of those scratch your head moments when I couldn't resolve the rules to the scenario on the table. When does the Unit affected by result 6 on the Psychotroke result strike their own Unit?

My Order Xenos Inquisitor and deathcults/crusader squad got the charge on a Draigo/Paladin squad. Rolled a six on the Psychotroke grenade effect table (pg 60 GK codex) so every model in the enemy unit had to take an initiative test or strike his own unit.

We worked it out the following way but I am unsure it was correct.

Psykout grenades made Draigo/Palidins Initiative 1 but we used their unmodified initiative for the tests. Draigo and 1 Sword Paladin failed.

The test is taken immediately but we decided the self-inflicted attacks should be in Initiative order at the Psykout modified Initiative of 1.

The Palidins died at the Initiative 3 step. Draigo is now a single figure model. Opponent says I can re-roll result as per effect 6 for single figure models.

Result of re-roll effect 5. No effect as we are at the Initiative 1 step. Draigo strikes kills a crusader and dies to fearless wounds.

Written down it seems less likely I got it right but since there are quite a few Paladin armies around I thought it may crop up again.

1) Nothing says you use the unmodified init, so you dont. They would have taken the test at I1

Point One: Makes sense

Point Two: Do you mean Draigo would strike his own Unit at the Initiative 5 step ?

No, he would still have struck at I1, as that is his I for this combat.

Thanks for the quick reply. So would the single model re-roll the result part of the rule come into play as Draigo was alone by then

No, as you have already rolled the grenades, and he wasnt alone at that point. Essentially you lostthe grenade effects because you killed too much!

Not really a problem then and thanks for clearing it up

When do characters separate from their unit in CC? If it is before attacks, then I think Draigo would have to have his effect rolled separately from the unit as he is his own unit now.
