Subject: Vampires...armour or no armour?

I've been told by people at my local gaming club that vampires can only wear armour if they have any of the martial vampire powers, if this right?
It only says in the book that if i choose to give my vampire any armour or weapons it cancels out what is given to them by the vampire powers, but not whether they can take the armour in the first place.
Somebody please help :/

Well, specific rules trump general.
The main rules are that a Wizard may not take magic armor unless he has mundane armor of some kind avaliable to him in his entry OR he comes with it standard on his profile.
Does a Vampire have light armor, heavy armor, a shield, helmet, or any other kind of "armor" in his profile or options? If its yes then he can take magic armor.

In the profle a vampire lord comes with only a hand weapon, i suppose this means i DO have to take one of the martial vampire powers to give him magic armour etc
Also as bloodknights are vampires and vampires are level 1 wizards, does this mean my bloodnights can all cast magic and roll for channelling??

No, the FAQ cleared up that they are vampires only for Crumble purposes.

Normal Wizards can not take armour. Chaos wizards can. Vampire can also. pg 85 in the VC book. "All Vampire may be given magic Armour..... This replaces mundane armor given though ...[sic] Vamp powers "

Yep, as above. ALL vampires can take magic armour, regardless of whether they have taken the powers or not.

I actually played a game where we counted Blood Knights and Vargulfs as lvl1s.
It was interesting to say the least and didn't seem too OTT.

You do have to have the Avatar of death (on foot) to wear heavy armour and a shield or Dreadnight (for mounted models) but it doesn't say you can't wear magic armour.
