Thinking of starting an IG army. any tips before i start purchasing? What should i play? Was thinking horde but not sure.

Well, that really depends on what /kind/ of hoard. Mech hoard or infantry hoard?

You see, no one knows how you play. We can debate personal favs but the nice thing about IG is that there are multiple lists that can win and are established winners.

You need to give more detail on what your expecting to do with the list and how you want it to work. Then you need to get the codex and read up on those rules and how they interact with the base rule book.

I see you run Eldar. Are you looking at a different playstyle from what your Eldar give you? You then should tell us what kind of Eldar list you run then. If your Mech-dar and don't want to run Chimera hoard, well then people shouldn't offer Chimera hoard suggestion (though don't hold your breath on that).

well i am playing Mechdar. I dont know much about chimera spam. i have a codex. On the GW site they have Karskin troopers. I cant find those in the codex. I guess i need ideas. I want a good idea of what i want to play before i start buying. Im not siure what that is though. I put some thought in footslogging but as eldar i know the value of my transports. I have this picture in my head of an immense amout of troops on the table and to me that just seems immpressive and cool looking. but is it effective? Or do i run a list full of tanks? cause that seems cool too. i just want a start up list for 1500 pts that i can get a real feel for the IG. then maybe move on to something more specialized. Its a day dream right now cause im still not finished with my Eldar. Probably never will be....

OK, BLKtom made good points , also how many point do you think you need or wont to play? Her are some of the different types of lists you can run...chimera rush, russ spam, airborne vets, chimera vets, all inferntry, hybrid mech/inferntry. Oh Karskin troopers are just cadian storm troopers i think. Hope i help.

Also, Kasrkin are just Storm Troopers with different looks, as the Kasrkin are the Cadian equivalent.

Please read the forum rules for posting lists. You will need to edit the above list.

Just list the bast unit and the wargear, but do not list every point, just the total. For example...

Vets - 155pts
3x Melta guns, Chimera, Hull HF

Anyone with a codex can easily figure out how much the meltas cost, the cost of the Chimera, and the free changes made to the Chimera weapon load-out.

Besides, all the extra listings kinda make your list hard to read. Don't give the PCS a commissar and commissars are not need for the PISs if they are not combined (blobbed). You also can not give Orders to units in Chimeras so the Voxs are a waste. Also, do not fool yourself and give 5 man squads close combat weapons. Heck, with Guard, do not give 10 man squads close combat weapons. Compair the platoon guys to your Guardians and I bet you can figure out who would win in a fight. And Guardians can be made into Storm Guardians.

I am kinda suprised your going with a mech list when your Eldar is a mech list. Though in a way I guess it is a different type of mech list, specially with the LRBTs.
