As a new Tyranid player i feel like i have nothing to go against a Armored target with Small to medium sized units like Hormas, Termas and Warriors so i am a little unsure how it actually works to fight a armored target in melee ( mind you that "armored" in this sense means a walker or a vehicle )
So far i have understood its the Strenght of the unit pluss a D6 to penetrate armor, and if you have rending you get the strenght pluss 3d6 or something?
And can walkers lock you in assault?

Very confused on how i can tackle armor so to speak...

You have a few sections of the main rulebook to look up.
I don't want to get in the middle of a "you can't quote rules" argument here.

Rending in close combat is on page 42, but in a nutshell works similar to rendong weapons. It's not 3D6 but an addition.

Assaulting against vehicles yes it is the Strength plus D6. This is on page 63 under 'armour penetration in close combat'.

Walkers can be locked in close combat. The rules on page 73 cover this as well as all other rules about walkers and assaults.

Your Tyranid army can defeat vehicles. You have pleanty of tools to use against armored targets. You need to use your codex and the main rules to figure a tactic to defeat your enemy.

So in a nutshell for Small/Medium size Tyranids i will have to use Rending, and Adrenal Glands to take out lightly armored targets in melee then?

Well, Thanks for the heads up and i will look into those rules more closely.

Well, 2 important things to remember for your nids is that a vehicle that is stationary is hit automatically, and all close combat hits on vehicles are resolved against its rear armor.

Knowing that is strategically important and tacticaly critical. Even if you move your gaunts against the front of a vehicle to get into cc, the vehicle's rear armor value is used to resolve the hits.

Add furious charge and rending into this and you'll find that tyranids are indeed a viable force against most vehicles.

On the flip side, remember that when assaulting a walker, you always resolve the hits against their front armor.

You need to know these differences or the results could be less effective than you hoped for.

Another thing to remember is that Walkers are hit on their front armor in CC, unlike other vehicles. they also can lock you, and be locked, in combat.
