Has there been any statement or speculation on what the next codex/army release will be?

Probably Black Templars.

I'd recommend checking out the rumoured releases thread at the [stickied] top of this forum.

I cannot recall who is rumoured after Necrons, but IIRC it's Tau/Eldar/Templars I think.

Nonetheless, questions aren't suited for the News and Rumours forum (dilutes the actual news and rumours). Your best bet would be to look around a bit and then if you're still unsure ask in 40K discussions, as - again - no questions in News and Rumours pretty please!

It's quite amazing to be honest, when I started playing everyone was ranting about how the 'crons and DE have such old codexes/models and the tau had just been updated to fourth...

Well...they just released a bunch of Eldar Finecast...

They also released some DA and Templars.

Meaning that it will probably Eldar DA or Templars

That means the opposite potentially - finecasts of old models have generally been held back if there was a release of that army coming. Ogers and Necrons got none until they were re-launched. That big Eldar wave in particular means it certainly wont be them.

i really dont need to see another space marine chapter tbh I like diversity and a BUNCH of new stuff in front of me. Not a space marine with angel wings and this guys got TWO pistols wow. I would love to see Tau or Eldar for the simple fact its more interesting and that I'm not going to buy a chapter that my space marines aren't modelled after

I thought nxt big release was New Rules along with Tau and Chaos Legions?

Idk what i will do if chaos is redone so soon

Exactly.
Tau got no new model => possible candidates of a release alongside a codex.
