I was wondering what everyone thought on battle reports. Do people prefer uploaded videos to youtube? Or photos and something that you can read? Or just plain text?

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.
Excerpt from "Seeress of Kell", Book Five of The Malloreon series by David Eddings.

Fact of the Day: Emperor's Children are believed to be selling strange substances to children.
Thought for the day: Fear the Emperor or at least fear his Inquisition.
Lonely hearts column: Tall, thin metallic gentlemen with deep deep green eyes (in curvy hollow sockets) seeks well-oiled stainless steel female, must be soulless.

Photos and text. With videos it can get confusing to follow and difficult to watch if the screen is constantly moving around.

My favorite type of batrep, by far, is photos and text. I don't like text only, I like a few pics in there to keep things interesting. And sometimes, the old saying is true, a picture is worth a thousand words. Pictures can very effectively sum up deployment positions and movement, without the need for a paragraph of text explaining everyone's positioning in relation to the terrain and each other. I don't like videos because I like to set my own pace when I read through it; I can speed up or skip ahead if it's boring (a paragraph explaining deployment, when a simple picture will do), or slow down and re-read if it's interesting (a vital assault phase). Secondly, I do most of my Dakka browsing while I'm watching TV; therefore I'm listening to whatever I'm watching and can't listen to a video's voice-over.

Video is prefered, but i can deal with pictures and text.
I can't deal with text only for a number of reasons; first off it's a wall of text, and my eyes just glaze over. second is that I can't picture the board properlly in my mind, you could describe the board as if it were the greatest work of art in all the land, filling it with rich detail, and I'll still believe that the clock tower on the top right side was in the the bottom left instead.
pictures are great if they are taken at the right times. i.e. I like to see full board shots every start of a players turn, during deployment, and when something cool or important happens, there is a closer view of it.
the catch with pictures is sometimes take them into paint and try to add detail to them, and explain what is happening. that's just bad, and I'd rather have text for it.
