How do cover saves work for Artillery units?

The Guns and the Crew are technically one unit. Does this mean that if you deploy the crew and the gun in Area Terrain, that since the majority of the unit has cover, that the Guns would also get a 4+ cover save in addition to the crew?

What if the Guns are under a KFF effect? Do the Guns get a 4+ cover save and the crew get a 5+ cover save? Or does the entire unit get a 5+ cover save, because that is the majority cover save for the entire unit? If enough Crew and Guns were destroyed to where you had 2 crew and 2 guns under a KFF, would now the entire unit get a 4+ cover save, since 50% of the unit has that save now?

A "Unit" almost always has the same save. You never have a unit where some models might not get a save, where other models do. Artillery might be different, but I don't see anything in the BRB indicating that it is, at least for the purpose of taking saves from shooting attacks. Thus it seems to me that even though a vehicle normally doesn't benefit from being within Area Terrain, that since more than 50% of the squad does, then so does the Gun.

As the gun and crew are 1 unit if at least 50% of the models can claim cover, the whole unit has cover. In the case where part of the unit has 4+ and part has 5+ you use the majority. If there is no majority, than you use the better save. So if the 2 crewman had a 5+ and the artillary had a 4+ you would use the 5+.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
