Hi All - based of a couple of tactics posts, I've had an idea to modify my current mech IG 1500pt List.

A:
CCS, 3 Melta, 1 Flamer, Chimera, HHF - 140

4x Vets, 3 Melta, Chimera, HHF - 620

2x Vendetta - 260

LRBT
+Lascannon - 165

Demolisher
+HHF

2x Hydra

B:
CCS, 3 Melta, Chimera, HHF - 135

2x Vets, 3 Melta, Autocannon, Chimera - 330

PCS, Autocannon
2x PIS, Autocannon, melta, chimera 0 290

2x Vendetta - 260

Marbo

Demolisher
+Lascannon - 180

LRBT
+Lascannon - 165

Hydra - 75

Which is better, as a take-all-comers? Does the increased volume of ranged firepowe outweight the loss of those vet meltas & second Hydra?

Personally, A fits my liking better. I used to run a similar list. mine had 2 Demolishers, w/ HHB.

Yeah, drop the LCs on the tanks and make them both Demolishers. Your long range AT is your Vendettas with the TLed LCs, not the Tanks.

To bad your 2nd list can't get two SWSs to throw in the Vendettas to make them scoring. You can also give them 3 flamers for burning out cover based saves or melta guns for a suicide drop. Though I am personally against suicide drops, I fell obligated to mention it as a stategy.

Otherwise, List A with a second Demolisher.

Likewise, list A is a more solid list.

My only comment would be that 2 of the vet squads should be plasma if possible. You really don't need 5x melta squads, and the versatility helps.

He can't afford 30pts for two units of plasmas. He would have to actually drop a unit (the cheapest being a Hydra) and that really doesn't make it a worthwhile choice. Heck, he can't afford a 4th Melta on the CCS.

Okay, fair doo's. So get rid of that lascannons. I've found that I often need an anti-MEQ pie plate with a range that exceeds that of a demolisher. Or it could be how I use them?

In any case, would it be better to keep a naked LRBT and have 1 plasma-vet squad or have two naked demolishers?
