I've noticed that if a thread is shown as having the last message (so been the latest thread in the forum to have been posted on) and the title is changed afterwards, then the correction is not shown on the 'Last Message' list in the Forum Index, but is shown if a user enters the forum and sees the thread in the thread list.

Each post has a its own post title.
This can be changed but usually it's just the thread title with RE: at the start.

I'm not talking about post titles, i'm talking about thread ones, the name of the thread can be changed by editing the OP, however this change is not reflected if it is the most recently posted in thread on a forum, and observed from the Forum Index, it is only visible by entering the forum itself and viewing the thread list.
EDIT: Changed thread title as an example.
