I'm playing a DoA list and use a Furioso or two in a drop pod. Can I hold them back till turn two when I start rolling my deep strikes?
If so, do they still come in 50% and 50%, or all at the same time?

"Must choose half"
I think that right there says yes you have to deploy half of your drop-pods turn 1.

You could put empty pods in the first wave, if you have any. Take two Furiosos with pods, and two sets of Devastators with pods. Deploy the Devs on the table, and you can then use their pods to "nullify" Drop Pod Assault.

yea, but devs aren't DoA (don't care how good they are, they don't fit in), and your wasting 70 points on pods :(

If you want to hold your pods off until turn 2, then play Black Templars.
Their pods follow normal reserve rules.
But they also get to shoot the turn they arrive (codex rule).
Anyone else pretty much has to deploy half on turn 1.

Yup. As said, the way people make serious drop pod armies work is to use empty pods to avoid throwing their important stuff down too early when your opponent Reserves against you or otherwise makes dropping your good stuff on turn 1 a bad idea.

There is no need because the pods that drop turn 1 are what you choose to drop so if you have 4 pods and 2 of them are for tactical squads and 2 are dreads, then drop the tactical squads if the dreads are important.

Deployable shooty cover is one, walling off one of the table edges is another. Adding multiple beacons for your terminators so they don't scatter into hot lava is another still. Just because half your pods come in on T1 doesn't mean its a bad thing, you can force your opponent to react to them, so it will be almost like going second.... and its not just the half you need to put on the table, its half rounded up to the nearest whole pod. adendum: also, walling off an objective, just because you can do it.
