Ok so I have 2 lists at 2k

-HQ
Farseer: doom, guide, fortune, spirit stones RoWard, and RoWit
8 Locks:
3w Singing spear, embolden, enhance
5 w Destructor

Avatar

-Elites
6 Fire Dragons w Exarch w flamer + Wave Serpent w TL brightlance

-Troops
20 Guardians w bright lance and Spirit Seer w enhance +Wave Serp with 2 Scannon
10 DAV with Bladstorm Exarch w PW SS +Wave Serp with 2 Scannon

-HSupport
2 Wraithlords w 2 flamers, EML, Brightlance
3 Walkers w 2Slasers each

Second list is exactly the same only replace the Avatar w
Farseer w Fortune, Guide, Mindwar Spirit Stones RoWit

So basically I have a hard to shift firebase, a warlock deathstar w firedragon and dire avenger support.

The wraithlords stay with my Guardians and provide assault deterence and the guardians provide weight of fire with doom and guide to hurt most deathstars. I have pretty decent AT platforms in the Wraithlords and if I am playing the avatar list then I have a tough nasty assaulter/force augmenter. So what yall think. Remember forum rules etc... Oh and I already leveled a competitive tau list my first game with eldar/ the first list

I took my wife thru the BRB for fantasy and 40k, the first thing she said was "AWESOME"... codex: Chaos Daemons Nurgle..... to all those who says God aint real....

personally i hate the seer coucil it ends up sitting in melle FOREVER and its to many points.

ok id take eldard for a list like this as his 3 power and two of the same will help more as you can keep the mandatory fortune on the avatar while protecting your seer coucil with fortune as well and still have some juice left for doom guide what have you.

Just some quick notes...

- Never take more then 2 powers on Farseers, that "what if" isn't worth the wasted cost of the 3rd power

- Mix and match your serpents weapons with the unit inside. Anti take serpent gun w/ anti infantry inside. AKA Scatters with Dragons and BL/EML with troops. This mitigates the amount of threat a single vehicle will be.

- 20 Guardians is a waste. The only reasons to take guardians are their warlock and platform which you get at 10. 2 units of 10 is bound and leaps over a single of 20. Also, never ever take single shot weapons on Guardians unless you are utter desperate for more AT.

- Dire Avengers... suck in CC. Never take the exarch Melee upgrades as you'll find you'll 1 glorified over priced Howling Banshee and 9 liabilities. If doing bladestorm take Dual Catas.

- Seer council on foot will be an auto-lose vs GK armies with a Stormraven.

Overall the biggest struggle you will have is having only two troops at 2k. Seize ground you'll be struggling for a tie.

In my experience with 40k I always seem to be in the situation of "OHMG WHY DIDNT I TAKE THE OTHER POWER "
I gave both farseers a different 3rd power so I have every base(but eldrich storm which Im not impressed with) covered

I actually already planned on this, so I am glad that you said it, as it is heartening to know I am making some good decisions

Here I must respectfully disagree with you. The AT provided by my guardians is simply icing on the cake for what I intend to do with them. And that is provide a hard to get killpoint objective camper that can throw out a 50 percent chance to hit brightlance, and it will have lead ten with a re-rollable leadership. And 2 units of 10 equals 2 EASY to get kill points that cant reliably hold an objective unless its "late game run to hopefully get to it from the board edge."

Here I most certainly must agree with you, from my game with them, the exarch is useless and in combat hits like a wet noodle anyways.

Thats why they ride in the guardians (which will be moved to the warlock squad) dedicated Wave serpent.

Overall the biggest struggle you will have is having only two troops at 2k. Seize ground you'll be struggling for a tie.


I would say with the overall strategy I have for this army I will risk only having two troop choices. Im fine with contesting the rest and holding one.

If you are concerned about not having the right powers you should really just spend the extra few points for Eldrad as his benefits will vastly support an army such as this.

On the 20 Guardians, if you want a hard to kill objective camper for 226pts then spend a mere 15pts more and take 10 w/ s cannon, warlock w/ embolden, and serpent w/ EML lol. The survivability of the unit doesn't go up a whole lot for that extra 80pts. A single assault will still down the whole unit, fearless or not.

Warlocks can take a dedicated transport, there is no need to buy it via the guardians for that purpose.

The problem with the whole 2 troops is that a smart opponent will just slaughter your 2 troops and turn the game into you scrounging for a tie at best.

I would take conceal on the guardians and bring eldrad so that way you have an extra fortune to throw on the guardians.
