Subject: Good 2nd Warcaster for Menoth?
|
 |
Paladin of the Wall

Just starting Warmachine, and I plan on using pKreoss with as my first caster, as I am planning on buying the battle group or splitting the 2 player box. I already have the rulebook and have only seen the entries for pKreoss, the High Reclaimer, and pSeverius. One caveat is that I do not want to run the Harbinger at this point as her model is 37 bucks and I can't afford to spend that on a warcaster when I could get another jack or the Avatar for that much money. Who would be a good choice for my second warcaster? I plan on running mostly jacks.

For mostly 'jacks, go Amon Ad Raza. He is Menoth's 'jack lovin' caster, making warjacks super-fast and killy. Add in some Choirs for super upgraded warjacks, vassals of menoth, and maybe some wracks, and you will have an army of 'jacks and their support units.

Psevy all the way. he clears infantry all by his lonesome. He also has some of the best buffs in the game. eye of menoth, and defenders ward. 8 focus giving him a 16" control area. He is one of if not the best menoth caster.

I agree with picking up pSevvy. It was the route I took when playing Menoth at first (but technically, my second caster I bought was Harbinger, way too cool to pass up). For the support elements, a Choir is a must, and Vassals with shooty jacks are just too damn cool.
I would agree with the Amon comment as he does do a lot for a mostly warjack list, but he seems to be much higher of a learning curve than for someone just starting out. pSevvy, and pKreoss were extremely easy to learn Menoth with.

Epic Feora is another good caster for you. She likes running three with some infantry support and you get to introduce your friends to the joy of dying to continuous fire in the control phase of their turn.

Technically they die in their maintenance phase before they get focus.
