So, I've never done a convertion before, and now I have to do one. And I have no idea how to go through with it. I have to change the Shuriken Pistol on the finecast Eldar Autarch (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440239a&prodId=prod1160035a) to a Fusion Gun (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440240a&prodId=prod1390004a).

It doesn't have to look exactly like it, just somewhat like it.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this?

I are confused. Isn't there already an Autarch with a fusion gun. I'll go on the assumption you like the one with wings and powersword better. The FD exarch has two right arms one has a fusion gun, one a fire pike. It's the same arm you would remove the pistol from

I'm going to buy Fire Dragons soon, I'll probably buy the Autarch along with them then.

The autarch comes with a fusion gun, but if you want a different one the Autarch on jetbike kit has a fusion gun, as well as Storm Guardians bits.

The metal one comes with a Fusion Gun, not the Finecast one.

Indeed. And because I lothe metal.

The Fire dragon exarch doesn't technically come with a fusion gun though - it is a Dragon's breath flamer, and a fire pike. Then again, all the other FD.s has fusion guns, and the DBF looks pretty similar to one...

Truth. The problem with the FD's is they are one-piece models, right? No detachable arms and even if there were detachable arms, you'd then be down a FD model! Also, the exarch for the squad would then be left with a firepike as a weapon option, probably the least desireable of the three they can choose from.

OP, the fusion guns from the Storm Guardian conversion kit or the metal Autarch (with the Scorpion Chainsword) should work fine and once it's pinned and glued won't give you any trouble. In fact, it's possible to magnetize the shoulder socket and arm to swap them out for other, respectably useless compared to the fusion gun, options. If you can find an old eldar weapon sprue, there's a fusion gun on there, along with a flamer, shuri-pults, and close combat weapons. I even have a few that I wouldn't mind trading for, if you're interested.

Edit: I remembered that there are these available from Forgeworld as well. Leaves you with some extra options for further conversions as well! This fusion gun is identical to the one on the old eldar weapon sprue.

The DBF is believable as a fusion gun, especially on the autarch. But your right it's not a FG per se. I didn't look in the codex I just opened the box to look, cause I remembered something that looked right in there.

The metal DBF from the FD exarch might be a bit heavy for that finecast Autarch (it's a very skinny, lightweight model, even for finecast). I used a plastic fusion gun I had sitting in my bits box from ages ago, possibly an old guardian or jetbike sprue (storm guardians maybe?). Not sure if those even exist anymore, but that's where I'd look.

Problem solved fincast FDs come out with crons . Aside from that mixing metal and resin isn't so bad

Just checked out the Dragon's Breath Flamer. It will do just fine as a Fusion Gun for the Autarch. It's almost good that it looks a bit different, the leader of the War Host should have a pimped gun in comparison to the ordinary ones
