How are the best ways to play them? Small amounts of elite units, or as many models as I can fit in, or somewhere between the two?

Seer Council Deathstar is a great unit, beyond that just bring units in transports like fire dragons/scorpians and bring guardian jetbikes or 5 davu serpents.

I'm trying to go for a Biel-Tan style army, so the GJB won't work to well. Will post the list I came up with.

I use guardian jet bikes with my biel-tan (mech) list, works just fine.
Your opponent has a hard time dedicating any serious firepower on the cheap 3 model units while theres a bunch of nasty tanks flying around.

I take Yriel and Eldrad as HQ and I take 2 10 man teams's w/ an exarch with bladestorm as my troop choice. They both go in wave serpents. For elites I take 10 Harlequins( with a shadowseer and a troupe leader) in a wave serpent. Yriel tags along with them for some cover. that list seems to work fairly well.

Unless you are doing some kinda first turn swap with the harlies and the WS, I am nearly positive that harlies cannot select a designated WS. Might want to double check that list before playing anyone.

It depends on your playstyle. If you want Biel Tan then you want to take as many Aspect Warriors as possible.
Depending on points and play style there are lots of things that can work
I like squads of 6 fire dragons with exarch with Crack shot in Wave Serpents with TL shuri cannon and underslung shuri cannon with Spirit stones X 2-3 squads
If you want close combat - it depends on who you are playing... if you don't know then I suggest Banshees 10 women Exarch with executioner with both powers in a Wave serpent as listed above. Another option is a Harlequin squad that takes a transport from guardian squad or hoofs it kitted out with troope master with power weapon and rest with kisses and shadowseer, link that with Farseer with doom and Fortune and you have yourself a tough unit. Other options if you do not want bikes - is a 5-6 man seer council, put them in a Falcon or in a wave serpent with a 5 man squad of Dire Avengers to take objectives and be a tar pit CC unit. Make the Dire avenfer exarch with shimmershield and power weapn with defend or bladestorm and you have a good unit with the seers to stand in front of them to protect them.
It really depends on your play style. If you let us know that, I could give you more advice. Cheers.

You are correct. Harlies cannot take a WS of their own. You must buy it for another unit, and then hop the Harlies in on turn one.

I think Harlequins in transports work much better than without. With their 5+ saves they will not last long slogging it. With a farseer (not Eldrad as he is not fleet) with fortune, they will last a lot longer and in a transport super. In a falcon, you can only take 6 which is not a lot and nerfs their assault against large hordes or Platoons. So, I believe that Harlies are great but I think they need a transport. I think a farseer with doom, spirirt stones, RoW, RoW, and Fortune are a must to help them survive for a long time. Yriel is badass esp with Harlies. Jain Zar and Karandras is great with them too. Cheers

Good luck... I think Eldar are a lot of fun to play, but not an easy army to play well. Eldar have many weaknesses including T3, high points cost. But they have their perks too. Just remember that every thing you take in the army must perform multiple tasks to win the game. I like fire dragons but they usually end up as 1 trick wonders or if the transport get shot out from under them, no trick ponies. Which puts a lot of pressure on the rest of your army.

Plus, winning is more enjoyable if you do not always win. Automatically Appended Next Post: I am trying to get some general ideas, so I have a question for ya'.
I am going to make a Biel-Tan army, and am going to start off with a 500 point list. What would be a good way of doing this? Mechdar? Footdar? Or the " LOL MC" list that akaean had in that one post?

with a 500 point max army.... I would do foot as likely that is who you will be playing is a foot army. I would worry about mech at higher levels. At 500 points, I would concentrate on avengers, Guardians, Banshees, Wraithlord may be small squad of fire dragons, a farseer in an eldar list is really a great thing too, esp with spirit stones can cast 2 powers a turn.. Fortune, guide, and doom are great powers.

If you are planning on running the Farseer with the Banshees, I would lose the spear and try to get fortune and doom with Spirit stones, if you can afford it. You may want to save points on the bladestorm and put points into the farseer, getting a scatter laser or EML for the Wraithlord or more Dire Avengers or banshees. In small point games having more men on the field is always better. Just my opinion. I like the list as a whole though.. good thinking. The more troops you have the better and the Dire Avengers are very nice troops for the Eldar.

Ok, with that in mind, I will make another list with some of your considerations, and see how you like it. I got rid of the Wraithlord to save some points.
[130]Farseer with spirit stones, doom, and fortune
[112]5x Banshees with Exarch; Exarch has Executioner, War Shout, and Acrobatic
[72 Per]2x 5-strong Dire Avengers with Exarch; Exarch has 2 shuriken catapults
[55 Per]2x War Walkers with EML and shuriken cannon
TOTAL: 496 points
How is this? Better? Worse? About the same?

I like all of the list except for one thing. I like war walkers, but in a small army, I think they can dish out the hurt, but at Armour value 10, even bolters can glance them... potentially immobilize. I really think (in my opinion) you would be better with a Wraithlord (BS 4 instead of 3 and T 8 Stregnth 10 Monstrous creature with 3 wounds). The flamers will wrech platoons and Hordes and the St 10 will destroy vehicle, even a Land Raider - which not one will have in a 500 pt list.. But otherwise I really like it. You will have to post or pm me how the battle goes or take pictures and do a battle report.... Very awesome. Best of luck... Please feel free to pm or post on here with more questions, but I think the list looks solid. Tactics Put your wraithlord front and center... You can fortune him even to protect him better or fortune the squad that is out in front. Have Avengers in front and banshees behind to pounce on anyone getting close remember to use your fleet to get to enemies if threatening your troops or if you want the wraithlord to join the fun just walk them. Remember try to keep the farseer within 6" of the Wraithlord or you will have to take a wraithsight test each turn. On a roll of '1' they stand there like a dumb gak and can't do anything. Now if you really want to keep the War Walkers I would take Scatter lasers x2 for each War Walker as anything you will be fighting at this point level could potentially be glanced up to Armor Value 12. But I would leave that to your dire avengers and wraithlord. Now with the WraithLord you can not take 2 of the same weapon or it is twin linked, so take 2 seperate ones - Scatter laser and Shuri cannon or consider if taking on lots of marines with Terminator ARmor using a Star Cannon - Even though only 2 shots at AP 2 statistically it will do more wounds as the termies and space marines will lose their save or take there 5up invuln. But if fighting IG or Orks go with Scatter laser and Shuri cannon. This is just my opinion mind you. Cheers.

Actually, I think my most common opponent will not be using SM. The most common ones are Tau, Chaos Daemons, and other lighter things. SM is the most common, but on the days I go, they are not. Hey man if your most common opponent is not SM but shooty or quishy things, then you may want to keep the War Walkers, it is up to you. Play with it a little as you play you will develop your own style that works for you. Cheers and take care.
