Hey Dakkites,
I'm a bit Dark Angels fan (as previously mentioned in other posts). I've read many different forum posts debating vanilla vs. DA Codicies, but I'm frankly somewhat stuck. I've painted my DA as a successor chapter, but I'm unsure if I should use the DA Book or the 'Nilla. I have a Deathwing Army (Which I'd use the DA Book for obviously), but I'm not entirely sure if I should use it for my tactical army (more marines, vets, dreads, etc.). Is it wrong to use both? Not at the same time of course, but switch between the two depending on the game and all, or would it make more sense to focus one book over the other. My Tac army is more shooty oriented, and I know the overall census of most threads is "play what is fun for you" but I'm not sure which one is more fun. I've tried both and they're both fun in their own ways, but sometimes I obviously feel a little more strapped in the DA Codex. So, overall views and opinions on the matter? Thanks!

The DA codex is about 5% more expensive and more limited than vanilla. So, yes, unless you play with ravenwing or deathwing you will be playing with hand tied behind your back.

They can do a weird version of razorbackspam fairly well but otherwise you'll need Belial or Sammael.

To go along with that, I don't have any Razorbacks unfortunately. Working on a low cost way of converting but all the kits I'm finding that have Razorback turrets are $18+. For a few bucks more I can just get a razorback on ebay.

Yeah I agree with what has been posted here, and its the main reason I am waiting to start a new DA project ... mainly (assuming the 6th ed rumors are true) I will wait to see how vehicles/mech change before investing in so much mech ... also want to wait and see the next DA book before getting invested again.

so for now onto something else, even selling off my deathwing.
