Are Dark Angels viable/competitive?
Although just a rumour, I've heard that DA might be getting phased out. Is this true?
What sets the Ravenwing and Deathwing apart from other SM codices? They're essentially the same units that can only be fielded in specific group ratios and composition, and seeing as they're the only thing to set apart DA from generic death smurfs, what's the point?
Are they fun to play? Do they offer any tactical depth? Or is it just move bikers, fire, move, fire, move, fire, assault, done?
Thanks.

DA are of the old school codex-interesting and not overpowered.
Doesn't fit in with modern codex design. See SW and BA.

Ever thought 40k would be a lot better with bears?

Or SM or IG or Tyranids or GK or even Orks...

DA can be comptetive with their updates but frankly they are harder to play competetively (AFAIK).

They're not old school at all. They're one of the first codices to use the current format. They're just from a brief time where GW decided to axe options and make things simpler, which thankfully didn't last long. They can be reasonably good if you play them as Deathwing, Ravenwing, or Dualwing. If you're going for anything resembling a balanced force with Marines, tanks, and so on, just use Codex: Space Marines. They got an FAQ update recently that lets them use the 3++ stormshields and heavy 2 cyclones that codex Marines get, which is cool.
