so much better than Oblivion

Reminds me of the Morrowind start a little at the very beginning. Lots of action which is nice and the combat looks a bit more fluid than Oblivion.

Some other prisoner gets executed right in front of you then it's your turn, as they lower your head onto the executioner's block dragon swoops in and lands on a nearby tower knocking everyone over. You run off with another prisoner and try to escape the town by fighting guards while the dragon levels the place.

It did the same thing oblivion did which was put in a OMGWTF situation and then let you expand on your own from there...

Yea that was a pretty cool as start. Pretty far from bland thats for sure, Morrowind was a bland start, Oblivion was much better, this one, I mean....its a damn DRAGON! hulksmashing an ENTIRE TOWN! And thats at the start of your game. I think the next Elderscrolls, your just going to be set on fire, stagger a bit, and then shot and dumped off a bridge.

And then the troll under the bridge beats you with a large rock, before throwing you downstream.

Of course the stream will have to have lots of slaughterfish for a combat tutorial followed by a waterfall for a fall damage tutorial.
