Hello i have a small eldar army.
Avatar
2x Guardian Squads one with bright lance platform
3x Wraithlords

Was wondering what other squads would work well with this list. Am trying to expand but would like some ideas. Should i go banshees, rangers, scorpians, swooping hawks... Would realy appreciate feedback thanks!!

You pretty much have the core of a Footdar list already, so I would stay on that path. Considering nothing you have would work in a mech list you would basically be starting from scratch if you changed, and hybrid lists don't really work for Eldar.

Harlies are probably top of the list imo, they give you a good screening and counter assault unit which can work fine in a foot list since they can basically avoid being shot. A Farseer (Eldrad at higher points) is also going to be pretty helpful, he can Fortune the Avatar, Doom/Guide things and stops the Wraithlords going stupid from Wraithsight. After that probably some more Guardians, since two scoring units on foot won't last that long. Ideally I would change them to Scatters or at least EML, single shot Bright Lances are pretty meh on a BS3 unit and very expensive.

Whatever you do don't take units on foot which can't handle being shot. For example Banshees simply don't work in a Foot list, since you can't stop them being targeted and even with a 4+ cover save its not hard to kill them. Guardians get away with it because they are cheap and low priority targets.

Harlies are good as a counter-charge unit in a footdar list, as Powerguy explained. They can be devastating in their assault phase but every hit back may hurt - although they have a 5+ inv save. As said, a Farseer is mandatory in a footdar list. Three Wraithlords are good in small pt games but I'd consider at least one squadron of 3 Warwalkers with scatterlasers.

I would not advise the extra 2 groups of Guardians after all they are meat shields granted yes are only 8 points each if I was you because i am compiling a list for an official army for tournaments. I would say dire avengers are your next troop choice because they are faster better and generally are all round goodness. I would also take banshees as well because you get them into enemy grounds via a wave serpent they are going to do some huge damage and rip stuff apart.
farseer would be a must i mean look what they give to all the other eldar. Also be on the look out for rangers they are mean you upgrade to pathfinders also costly but i would say totally worth it.
hope this helps

Well, they seem to be quite capable choice. In addition to the Rending rule Pathfinders have a chance to make AP1 shot on to-hit-roll of 5-6. They do also have better cover save then the scouts. The only real virtue of the SM snipers IMHO is an ability to take a missile launcher.

There are quite a few threads on why pathfinders are not optimal. I wouldn't buy them myself.

If you go footdar, definitely get harlequins 10 man squad with Troope master with power weapons, Shadowseer (a must - have to roll 2d6 x2 to see if the enemy can even shoot them, plus gives halucinagen grenades), put a farseer with them, but a regular one - not eldrad as he is not fleet. You could do a Squad of Wraithguard (10 man with spiritseer is a troops choice - expensive though) or fire dragons. Fast attack in a footdar list - maybe warpSpiders with exarch.
I do not think hawks are really that good in 5th edition, more of a nuicense squad.. which BTW Pathfinders are more of a nuicense squad too... Yeah they are decent shots and have rending, but they are expensive and a squad of 5 you may get 3--5 wounds per turn, but maybe only 1-2 rending (aP1) so with SM at 3up save you aren't going to kill too many per turn, though I will say, people seem to freak out about pathfinders with their 2up cover save and make it a priority to kill them, so you could play into this, use them as bait... they can infiltrate too which is nice.

The bad thing with footdar list is they are INCREDIBLY hard to play competitively or in a tournement. Most of the time they will not win. But hey you are playing Eldar, it is not easy to win anyway.. thanks to your expensive army, weak T3 and your BS 3 on most of your heavy weapons (here is a race that live for thousands of years and they can't even shoot as well as veteran IG - give me a break, might as well be grotz) Good luck and cheers.
